BY JOE SKREBELS Gillian Anderson has shown interest in becoming the next actor to portray James - or indeed Jane - Bond.

As spotted by The Guardian, the X-Files and Hannibal star tweeted a poster of herself in front of the iconic Bond gun barrel and used the #NextBond hashtag.

#NextBond has been associated with fan campaigns supporting the likes of Tom Hiddleston, Idris Elba and Damian Lewis to take on the role.

It's fair to say that Anderson's followers have gotten on board with the idea.

Last week, reports emerged that current Bond actor, Daniel Craig had turned down £68 million to play 007 in two more films - opening up a flurry of speculation as to who MGM Studios would appoint next.

UK bookies have suspended betting on Tom Hiddleston to get the role.

Americans saw the Brits killing it with the Bond franchise and they went and did their own to compete with it. If black people want their own Bond, then make their own, period.

Very few directors of any colour period can make a Bond movie out of pocket or get the funding for it
