That’s really the thing about it. Neither has considerably differentiated themselves because there’s not that much difference between the two. But logically Lonzo should start — younger, more invested in him, has a higher ceiling (we already know what Rondo is, Zo is still improving), a better defender at this point. If Ball was aggressive though there wouldn’t even be a discussion, he’d clearly be the better player.

What is zo? A 6’7 pg with no quick twitch muscle. I just don’t see the upside with him unless he starts posting up more

Keep in mind it's his second year and his rookie year, and beginning of his sophomore year, has been somewhat injury plagued. He has top level court vision. He's extremely unselfish and keeps the ball moving. He doesn't seem to create conflict with teammates. He's a very good defender already, makes quick decisions, seems to have a sixth sense for what the next play should be. He's taller than pretty much everyone else at his position, and is a GREAT rebounder for his position. Lonzo has plenty of great qualities.

Rondo already on the record as saying he doesn't care whether he comes off the bench or starts. Also has embraced the fact that he was brought in to be a mentor and loves Zo's game.

Ya'll actin like Magic didn't already have these conversations.

Zo's shot looks to be back. And he's a way better defender than Rondo. Makes sense to start Zo so he can play D against opposing team's starting 1's and hide Rondo's awful D against back-ups.

Rondo was brought in to be the starter and Lonzo was supposed to back up. Luckily Lonzo is healthy and his offense has improved to the point where it supplements his contributions and Rondo can be an backup floor general to the bench and be used on the floor with Lonzo in some lineups so its not a bad thing regardless.

He's shooting 40% from three, rebounds great for his position, is active defensively, better in transition...do you think Jokic makes the two shots in the lane late last night on Rondo? He didn't on Lonzo.
