A lot of people say NIL “exposed” Alabama, how much truth do you say there is to that idea?

Retention of that talent year to year once they hit campus is the difference.
Even though school endowments don't go to their football programs, its still an indicator to who's who and what's what.
Harvard- $53 billion
Yale- $41 billion
Stanford- $36 billon
Texas- $20 billion
Michigan- $19 billion
USC- $8 billion
Georgia - $2 billion
Alabama- $ 1 billion
Auburn- $1 billion
CFB has ebbs and flows. Bama wasnt competing for chips for years before Saban. USC ran shyt for a minute then fell off. So did Miami...a few times. There are numerous others. Bama's run was an outlier. It wasnt gonna last forever. I'd say Saban leaving is the biggest factor.

Bama paid, Auburn paid, every big program paid.
Bama is getting exposed by getting a coach not from the south, with no connection to the school, the state, or the conference.
They literally did what Auburn did when we hired Hairsten.
Couldn't happen to a more deserving school.

No doubt y'all got people in place. The SEC wouldn't be where they're at today if they didn't have their sh*t together. It'll always be a top two conference no matter what, but that NIL came into play and threw a wrench in the South's football ecosystem. There's bigger pockets up North and out West in some places.

Nah breh. The majority of the South's talent will want to stay down South. That's where schools like Clemson, Florida State, Miami, UCF, etc benefit. But the SEC will always have something to say.
Others tried being holier than thou on the surface but paying under the table.
Bama was pretty well known to gift under the table. Combine that with elite winning under Saban and boom.
Like others said you don't have to do that no more and cats wanna play to get paid.
Saban said in an interview he was pissed that cats were asking for NIL increases just days after losing the Natty Game. He was done shortly afterwards

Saban always hated respecting players. Which is why he was ran out of Miami.
I hate that son of a itch with a passion with the pedestal the media places him on
He loved telling players and staff not to look him in the eye. He is such a tough coach but when he got in the NFL and had to treat players like employees with respect he ran. when that came to college he ran again.
He hates the concept and principle that he has to treat his players like men with respect

Yeah.. Oregon started placing the bulk of their NIL towards retention. We barely lose players. Alabama needs a better GM
