Sometimes you just need to stand up and make a change.
I grew up poor....real poor. moving lots, barely afford shyt. Parents not together. Drugs/alcohol. They never owned a damn thing(no house...drove junk cars,etc)
I was out of the house at 16.
But I decided to change that and broke the cycle. I racked up huge loans(26K) just to finish college on my own. THen joined the army and moved away.
Now I'm living alright. My parents are still broke, and expect me to pay their bills and shyt....which I don't. Cuz I got my own kids to worry about now.
YOu can sit and wallow in your sorrows or you can make a change.
I know alot of ppl that have had a bad break, and I feel for those ppl. But I know just as many ppl that ain't doing shyt to make their lives better so fukk them.

Pretty much. The average cac is already born with half the battle won, all they have to do is stay in school and keep a straight path, and even if they do fukk up they'll have their community to back them up. Like mentioned before if you're Black once you're 18 good luck cause you're on your own.
I don't see the problem. I hope to set my kids up nicely, as every parent should. If you are asking your grown kids for money you failed as a parent. We can get into all the excuses but at the end of the day it comes down to stacking and doing good things with your money, which regardless of what impact outside factors have most people- black and white- don't do
This is all anybody has to do. For people in terrible school districts that is one thing, but a lot of people go to good schools and still fukk it all up. I know a LOT of them.
There is a lot of shyt out of our control, but there is a lot of shyt within it. If you give up control and responsibility for your own outcomes to people who don't give a fukk about you you are GOING to fail.

Look out for your children, don't just kick them out of your house and expect them to catch up to these white kids who got everything handed to them.

That's how a lot of young middle class Black people are falling into poverty, their parents basically leave them to the wolves.
A lot of black kids are like that fresh from college QB who got shoved into games in their first year. They simply are not ready for primetime. They get kicked out of the house early with no guidance under the guise of tough love and are expected to make it on their own. They end up making a ton of bad decisions which sets them back financially. They are also unable to save. Why do you think these Mexicans who come across the border can end up owning businesses despite getting paid low wages? They live a ton to a house and they all pitch in, meaning they get to save a lot of money. They then use that to buy businesses and they end up hiring each other. That mechanism simply doesn't exist in a lot of the black community because you'd probably get clowned for 'living with your parents' or with having room mates. It's the same with the Indians. They don't move out until late. All the while, they are stacking money and buying businesses.
Been known this. Yet they will be the first ones talking about they worked hard for theirs and wanna act all arrogant as fukk. My thing is just keep it real. No need to lie or hide shyt because people are eventually going to find out and when they do, you'll worse than you think you did being cicky and shyt.

I am hoping to hand things down to my kids. We should be striving to give our kids houses too and looking to make the most of what we have, even if it's less than others.... rather than sitting around being jealous and bitter. I am surprised that this is a revelation for people.... that there are people out there with more than them.
Not to mention, as I'm sure you will find comforting, a lot of these parents are going broke trying to "help" their kids out.

My aunt was saying something like this to me a couple days ago. Her coworker's daughter had a baby about a year and a half ago. Her daughter and the babies father live at the moms house until they save up for their own crib. Rent free.
