As @jaydawg08 said it's more like $200-250k depending where you at. $100k back in the 80's and 90's was used because that was the average salary you needed to start building wealth or at least financial stability. These nikkas and others inflate shyt because they're not really dropping knowledge, they're trying to do a not so subtle flex.

A million dollars, unless you're in major debt, you can still do a lot with. It's not retirement money, but it opens a helluva a lot of doors. $200k is that lobby entrance to wealth-building.

And I'm defining wealth as the ability to begin using your money to make money.

I think wealth building can be done on less. For me? Probably about $125,000. It's not always about how much you make, but how much you save. If you don't have a car note and no credit card debt you can go further. That's at least an extra $600 in your pockets. Rent is the biggest factor slowing most of us down. If you can buy a house and beat rent prices, do so ASAP.

It's a ballpark or directional number. We've all seen people who started with less. And Alabama's starting point would be significantly lower than New York's starting point.

na. maybe in about 5-10 years. 30 years ago if you had a million you could comfortably retire. now you still gotta keep working

I hope you mean because you'd be investing and diversifying your portfolio (which is still work just not in the traditional sense)

Because if you telling us you gonna live the rest of your life off a million dollars I hope you don't plan on living long
