A mysterious 'Planet X' may be hiding deep in the solar system

Humans have so far explored only a tiny portion of the cosmos, so we can't really rule out the probability that many unidentified objects exist out there that we haven't seen yet — even huge planets right in our backyard. You can divide the Solar System into four portions: the inner rocky planets, the Asteroid Belt, the gas giants, and a massive collection of minor icy bodies called the Kuiper Belt. Some of those icy bodies in the Kuiper Belt are giant enough to be categorized as dwarf planets (like Eris and Pluto). Now researchers think something bigger — possibly four times bigger than our Earth — is prowling out there, just outside the Kuiper Belt. Scott Sheppard, an astronomer at the Carnegie Institution, told The Washington Post "I think there are definitely things out there bigger than Pluto that are yet to be discovered,”

Sheppard worked on a research paper issued in the journal Nature in 2014 that defines the discovery an unknown object on the edge of the Kuiper Belt. The astronomers named it "Biden." It's no bigger than a simple dwarf planet like Pluto, and they estimate that it's nearly three times the distance that Pluto is from Earth, or approximately 9 billion miles away. Actually, there's proof that quite a few of these unknown objects, none of them bigger than a dwarf planet, are wandering at the edge of the Kuiper Belt, according to the paper. And they aren't just arbitrarily moving around out there: They all seem to follow a parallel orbital pattern, although a really odd one.

This means it's imaginable some particularly large, really distant planet, called a "perturber" in Sheppard's study, is huge enough that its gravity can pull Biden and the other unknown objects into a parallel path through space. Unlike Biden, the "perturber" could be nearly four times the size of our Earth.

If this huge "Planet X" exists, we possibly haven't detected it because it's too far away. At such a huge distance it would seem nearly 200 times dimmer than the Sun appears from Earth. Or there might be some completely different description for why those unknown objects seem to have the same orbital pattern. The bottom line is that the scientists don't know enough yet and they need more evidence and observations.

The scientists based their observations on only 12 of these external Kuiper Belt objects, and the orbital arrangement they seem to follow might disappear with future observations. In other words, it might just be a twist of fate they all appear to follow a alike path.

Since Sheppard first declared distant objects in 2014, though, he's discovered more — and they, too, appear follow the same pattern. So that's more proof that "Planet X" does exist. Obviously we won't know for sure until someone observes it, but right now it appears to be like the most reasonable explanation.

This is nothing when you think about it because the universe is so big that there's thousands of planets and a lot of areas they haven't discovered yet. The universe is way too big. 200 years from now there will still be a lot of undiscovered planets.

this isnt referring to the Universe but our own solar system

there is no proof of this planet but rather the orbit of known objects in or near the Kuiper Belt seem to be disturbed or perturbed by something and these scientist theorized that it must be a large planet

Yeah, but they wouldn't be classified as a planet considering the scientists decided to de-planet-ized Pluto at the balls.

How does a planet go missing in a solar system plagued with satellites with all kinds of thermal technology

If planet x is real it just hasn't been told to us.

could meet the qualifications for a planet that Pluto didnt

our satellites cant see that far and our telescopes cant see something that small

it took New Horizons, the fastest object launched from Earth, over 9 years to reach the Kuiper Belt

99.9% of that area is completely unknown

Our solar system hasnt been explored. They finding planets light years away in other galaxies, but they cant find a rogue planet in our own solar system. You drinkin koolaid
