A needle traveling at the speed of light can destroy Earth?

Nice. :ehh:. That's a lot of zeros. Have you done the KE calculation?
Posted earlier but E=MC^2 is another simple equation here. C is speed of light. M is relativistic mass which can just be simplified to be the mass of the object since nothing can ever reach speed of light in reality. You can see the kinetic energy of even a few grams would be devastating

It wouldn't destroy the earth, but it would certainly be enough kinetic energy to blow up a city or cause a tidal wave.

That said, we need to be more worried about asteroids hitting:hubie:unlike this that can and will actually happen

Asteroids even with their weight have nowhere near the kinetic energy as the needle example, but still enough for a tsunami :ehh:

makes me think alien are really advanced, spiritually evolved beings because their children could probably make and use a "needle gun" on us for shyts and giggles like cacs would if they had that ability.

You’re grossly underestimating the kinetic energy anything moving the speed of light would have. An asteroid would be a nerf gun in comparison

And Steel often melts at around 1370° Celcius or 2500°F.

Additionally, the temperature in space is absolute zero which is the coldest that anything can get. Absolute zero is -273.15°C or -459.67°F.

The temperature of Earth’s uppermost atmosphere is 1500°C or 2,700°F.

For an object made of steel to go from a temperature of -459.67°F to 2,700°F faster than an instance, if at 2,500°F steel melts, in theory, the pin should start to disintegrate once it hits the uppermost atmosphere alone.

The Earth most likely survives this in all seriousness. The extent of the damage is unknown though, humans would def still be fukked in almost every scenario.

Another part of this to think of, I alluded to it earlier: An object moving fast enough doesn't give air and atmospheric molecules enough time to move out the way. What you get then is a bunch of molecules ramming into each other and possibly fusing, which will give off even more energy.

The earth will probably retain its shape, but all life on earth will probably be wiped out, no? The video says the surface will become super hot

So many scenarios, no one knows. It could just produce a really big localized explosion leading to global natural disasters, could be just a really big nuke, could vaporize everything on the surface due to atmospheric interactions, could go right through...literally no clue. Only thing we do know is it would have a lot of energy associated with it and no one wants to find out.

Thanks for engaging in this discussion, breh, I really enjoyed it :salute:
