People still want physical copies of things :leostare: CDs still exist and sell , blurays, games . Not everyone wants to install games and some people still collect the physical copies .

Well I want a gaming system not another iPad / computer / iPhone . I have all those already .

you say you have all those already. you just exposed yourself.

your phone can do pretty much what your pad can do, your laptop can do what your pad can do and more. but yet you have a phone, and a pad, and a laptop. the phone and the pad runs the exact same apps.

we've been stupid for years going for that one. but yet we went for it.
so dont act all special now like "i dont need no more tech, i got enough>" NONSENSE.

we've been buying what i call repeater tech for years now.

sure some people college cd's still. how many though? not many. not many people are still in the cd game. it took me years to get off of buying TAPES and full convert to CD"S. you know why? cause you couldnt make MIX CD's back then. you could only make mix tapes. there was no such thing as a in home burner. once the burner came out. say bye bye to tapes forever. sure there are a couple of crazy people who still rock with real life TAPES. but thats them. that aint me. and that aint most of us.

if you want it that bad..keep an old system around.

its time to get lighter, less plastic. and the truth is, we all know thats a go green move as well whether they are thinking that or not. it is. less plastic is less pollution and less trash in the world. but thats another discussion.

files can move quicker from person to person. place to place and move further for less.

your cousin in chicago wants to borrow your nba2k15, thats fine you havent played it in months you're stuck on madden 15. he doesnt have to go BUY IT, he doesnt have to ask you to send it to him in the mail. yall dont have to hop on a plane to meet. just license out to him for a time. to say thats not worth getting rid of the physical is crazy.

:snoop:

Be real, you could order the accessories on your console and have them delivered....

Change is whatever, but let steam be steam! They can still drop the prices on games if they want to.

If used games are selling for $30 then sell the digital for $35

I'm a grown ass man and all this xbox one stuff would not effect me if I got one, HOWEVER I remember being a kid and begging my mom for used games cause she damn sure was not buying them new.

The xbox one is a BIG fukk you to kid gamers and in turn their parents.
take your hand off your head snoop. you can't sell the digital copy for cheaper then the physical. they have contracts with the brick and mortar game sellers. thats low balling. they cant do that. thats why the price is all the same. digital or physical.

if there was no gamestop our digital downloads would be much cheaper.

when we get our games 100% digital. pretty much like music is today. its coming. we can fight it all we want but its coming. gamestop can fight it, but its coming.

Bruh I still buy cds today you think just because the music is digital they arent screwing you still?

Tell you what the last time you purchased some music online tell me what format and bit-rate the files were encoded in?

Cause I know for a fact it was more than likely encoded at 320kbps mp3 or apples 256 kbps AAC

which still aren't even equivalent to CD quality audio

What I look like paying more for a inferior quality music format

MS needs to drop the price of digital games to 39.99. That would do all the talking that needs to be done.
they cant do that, cause they are in contracts with the brick and mortars. thats low balling gamestop and the likes. it has to be the same price. as a matter of fact. i believe they had to ASK gamestop if it was okay for them to give us digital downloads of those games to begin with. and they probably agreed and said "Ok, but only if its at the same price" cause ya know darn well we would all be on that digital wave if it was 20 bucks cheaper then the physical. forget a $60.00 then a $10.00 buy back. just get it cheap from the get go. no need to Resale to feel like i got my money's worth.

Japan, but from the 989
This is a textbook example of COY!!! The clusterfukk that Microsoft has gotten into has engineers trying to help out the PR people. It was an ambitious plan but they fell into a pitfall of ambition....you can't force that shyt on people. They messed up when they made the Kinetc mandatory and "always online". The mandatory Kinetc probably drove up the launch price and not everyone is online 24 hours a day. They just should have just made the system check online when it gets on line, not require it. But now they are copping pleas and trying to explain a fukkED idea. It's over. The people are going to leave. Then you have the President saying if you don't like it get an Xbox 360...WTF is that?

Exactly my dude...

:smh: @ any idiot that believes Microsoft is going to sell you a brand new game on release day for $35 just because its not on a disc...

You will NEVER see a console games sub $60 on release day...

The reason Steam games are cheaper has little to do with digital distribution...Even disc PC games are cheaper than console games...This is because PC gaming is a niche market unlike console gaming which is mainstream...trying to compare the two is completely asinine...

Also another HUGE reason Digital PC games are often so cheap is because there's so much competition for selling PC games. You can buy digital PC games via "Steam", "EA Origin", "Games for Windows - Live Marketplace", Amazon.com, Gamefly.com, gamestop.com, bestbuy.com, greenmangaming.com, cdkeyhouse.com, "Humblebundle", & etc.

You can ONLY buy digital Xbox games via XBLA & You can ONLY buy digital PlayStation games via PSN store. Digital console games aren't about to get cheaper just because they're going digital. There's no motivation or competition to make them lower the prices for digital games.

The only way you'll see Console digital games sell as consistently cheap as PC digital games is if 3rd party online retailers are allowed to sell redemption codes for games on the PSN store or XBLA. But Microsoft & Sony would NEVER do that because they wouldn't make any money off that (unless it's 1 of their 1st or 2nd party games) .

It's painfully obvious that M$ was targeting the casual gamer, while not giving a fukk about the hardcore gamers. People who actually want to invest in a console and play the fukk out of the games they buy. Not this other bullshyt like talking to their xbox.

but are they really? I consider myself a casual gamer. I play my 360 about once every 2-3 weeks. Only time i turn it on is to play a game when i get some down time. I wont be using it daily and I cant imagine any casual user wanting this sh!t on all the time while they watch tv. To me this is a slap in the face to the casual gamer.

then come out and say you're gonna make digital games cheaper
:mindblown: EX FUKKING ACTLY.

That was the first thing that came to my mind. If these dudes came out and said, "The reason we are going this route is so we can move away from discs and so we can make games cheaper as a result......" All of that ill will they stirred up would have never been there.

Someone asks, "Will you be able to sell your games as you always have?" Some MS Exec replies, "Yeah, but only to select retailers, and by the way, I will not be answering any more questions now or after E3" :birdman:

:what: Of course people that aren't fanboys are gonna be like WTF???

If on the other hand they say "Well, if you buy a disc copy you could, but its a bit more difficult because we plan on selling mostly digital games for between 5-30 bucks and we aren't sure how you would sell a digital game...." The reporter's reply would be :gladbron: "What, the games are gonna be that cheap!?!? Can I give my money directly to you or do I have to wait and give it to Walmart???"

They really should have stressed "Move away from discs" and cheaper games. What this engineer is talking about is cool and all but he isn't or at least doesn't sound like he is on the business side of things. Its probably very difficult to get that price down to 40 bucks and cheaper. The only way you could is if EVERYONE went that route including Sony and Nintendo and all partners and affiliates. Thats more than likely much easier said than done and they couldn't come out and say something like that because they couldn't do it. So its almost like you get a few of the benefits of having that system, but more of the cons because the price hasn't and probably won't change. It's almost like they are acting as if the prices have already come down, so lets give your this DRM.

What should have happened is that all the players, Sony, MS, and Nintendo, if they really wanted to lower development costs and really lower prices for the consumer, this should have been a group effort. Not one company doing it and then when people buck, they try and act as if they are the only ones that care about the future of gaming. There are a lot of people that care about their pocketbooks NOW.

If gamestop are the bad guys according to this "engineer", why even go into a contract with them. If digital sales is your focus why go half in? Does Steam have contracts with GameStop? Why even say "we want to make games cheaper" if you are not actually making games cheaper? If digital downloads is your focus why not just say, "we arent selling physical copies, this is a digital based online console"? Why shoot the breeze about it when you can be about it?
