Teen spirit is their worst song :mjlol:

Most overrated song in rock music

And why are you even comparing Metal and alt rock bands to Nirvana? Two different genres..

you could argue musical talent and song composition until you're blue in the face but i'm sorry none of those bands had a front man that could fukk wit kurt. they just never had the same kind of presence.

how many rappers pound for pound could spit better than pac? plenty.
how many of them would you rather listen to? not many.

pac's presence on a track was just too great. nobody ever hopped on a song with 2pac and sounded bigger than he did. in fact part of the reason why the outlawz get so much hate isn't because they were wack lyricists but because they always came on after pac did and could never keep that energy level the same. the song always took a dive after pac passed the mic.

plenty of rock singers made a living off impersonating eddie vedder. some did it better than others.

but you could NEVER duplicate kurt cobain.

nirvana was an mtv darling..the only reason why they were popular was cuz of teens who watched mtv who saw kurt as some poster boy for their grunge movement..he was not the best singer during that era...there were alot of other bands during that era that were better than nirvana that just got as much play on the radio minus the mtv dikk sucking

Nirvana is my favorite band.

MGMT did the same thing too. Their follow up after the big commercial album didn't sell as well but they were happy so it didn't matter

translation: more people were attracted to kurt than the other vocalists of that era.

was kurt cobain half media creation? no doubt. most icons are. same goes for elvis, jim morrison and 2pac.

but again HALF media creation. the other half you can't just create out of thin air. it's gotta come from somethin real, somethin genuine. you don't just CREATE lightning in a bottle, you gotta capture it first.

no amount of mtv coverage was ever gonna propel eddie vedder or billy corgan onto the same plateu as kurt cobain. he just had something they didn't.

meh,,siamese dream, dookie, and Lets Go were better rock albums during the 90s

even if this was true, (I'm a chicago guy, the pumpkins are one of my all time favorites), none of them would have seen the light of day without Nirvana's success.

green day and rancid would have never made it out of Gilman street if Nirvana didn't go first and crush the buildings.

On topic -- I can see the increased focus on rap being a business. The deals for rappers were terrible back then. Someone needed to increase awareness of the business aspect so they didn't continue to get raked through the coals.

But, I don't agree with the obsession with sales, and I share Kurt's sentiment that making music you like and respect is more important. And, as said above, plenty of hip-hop artists feel that way also. We just don't care about them here, because first week sales trump all.

he was a media creation..his music wasnt that good..it was mediocre back then..were you even around in the 90s alt rock era? if you were you would know that nirvana made average music compared to the other hits around that time
