I'm a huge baseball fan (well really just a huge cardinals fan). Honestly it seems like Americans in general aren't really interested in it like that anymore. The league is ran by Dominicans, Cubans and Puerto Ricans now, which I actually think is pretty cool though. Them dominicans be out there in gold chains, tatts and stuff just like the brehs would lol.

There are MLB youth baseball academies in the Caribbean that do not compete with the AAU-HS-NCAA-G League-NBA or Midget Football-JHS-HS-NCAA-NFL feeder pipelines.

United States baseball is based on the father-son love-of-the-game inheritance model.

It is a less injury prone sport, compared to basketball & football.

It should be introduced stronger in the black community. Black men & women can make it flash.

I'm sure it was boring for the people watching them :yeshrug:

I respect their accomplishments and all that, but if we're being honest the game itself is just not very exciting, at least to watch.

I was very good at baseball.

Played it in high school due to my pops signing me up to continue the family tradition since my great grandfather, grandfather, and my father all played in high school and college.

My batting averages for every season of my high school career were .344 (freshman), .339 (the sophomore year I broke my hand that season), rebounded in my junior year with a .348 average, and my senior season averaged a school-best .444.

My school won a championship in my junior year and lost by a home run in the championship game my senior year of high school.

My pops and grandfather at one point wanted me to pursue a baseball career in college but I stepped away from sports and choose a different career path.

The way baseball invest their resources into Dominican Republic and other countries, they could do that in inner cities, plus educate a lot of African Americans the key advantages that baseball has over basketball and especially football. PAY AND LONGEVITY

What they basically got going on there is a plantation model

Identify the talent and then those kids give it all up a chance at any education from there on they basically play baseball all day everyday for years up to the point of signing (usually at a discount compared to a college draft pick) that shyt would never fly in America

MLB already has the RBI program but I don’t know how successful it’s been

Its weird because There should be more black baseball players. What the fukk other sports are there to do in the Spring time. Track I guess, but not everyone is built for track and field so I dont believe thats the answer. I remember watching Marion Barber III play baseball in High school and he was the top base stealers in Minnesota high school sports and would do outlandish shyt like steal home base on the regular, and obviously he went on to just specialize in football.
Stealing home base on the regular now that’s exciting

You’re an idiot and again displaying your stupidity as usual.

My grandfather played in the Negro leagues and he grew up in the southside of Chicago. Black kids used to play baseball all the time.

Baseball is really just an acquired taste. I don’t care how many baseball fields you build in inner cities. Baseball is a game fundamentally rife with little intricacies unique only to baseball; but, those things in themself are not as titillating or as exciting as other sports can be, regularly. Consequently, you have to have an appreciation of those intricacies to get the most enjoyment out of the sport, which leads back to it being an acquired taste.

mostly pitching. if you don't appreciate seeing a pitcher working the plate, throwing flames, finessing with a off speed pitch, coming in to save a game, etc. you probably not gonna like watching baseball, that's what's going on in every play. everything else is just basic throw catch run stuff you see in most sports.
but yeah i don't think it has to do with "missing fathers to teach it to sons".... there's not a lot of black girls into softball either but we all know the mothers are there.

It's no secret baseball has been trying to get more young brothers to play for years. The problem is baseball is relatively expensive sport, if you're dealing with an average income Black household.
