I grew up in the church, thought that black love was everything and was willing to do whatever it took to be loyal, faithful and the complete opposite of what women complained about.

I totally regret it.

I live with my fiance and two daughters. I pay all the bills, she's staying at home since she just had a baby a few months ago. Yesterday, I woke up at 5:30 am, shoveled the snow, took out the trash, made my breakfast and prepared food for my older daughter.

Went to work. Put in a busy 9-5 shift at my corporate job.

Came home... didn't have a lot of food in the crib. Did wifey go to the supermarket? Nope. Of course not. I went. Bought groceries. Came home. Kitchen was a mess.

Washed the dishes. Cooked some food to go with the food I cooked the night before. Ate. Took out the trash. Shoveled again. Cleaned up.

Tried to get it in with wifey. She said she's still on her period (it's been 8 straight days)

Spent time with my baby daughter. Changed her diaper and put her down.

Shower, come out and see wifey trying to get me to watch Married at First Sight and talk about it... because she's interested. Seriously.

We haven't had sex in three months.

Why am I saying all this?

I'm miserable. This get married shyt is for the birds. It's nothing but hard work, commitment, discipline, sacrifice and communicating a bunch of shyt you shouldn't have to. Did I mention we have a counseling session coming up?

I feel you. Maybe it's a generational thing?

I grew up in a different time(feels like), I'm 31, that list is simple asf, I don't even feel like it can be a humble brag to say I have all 5, because it's not a huge feat--but I think that speaks to the generational gap. I feel like people under 26 are sooo different these days. They've grown up in a time where social media is huge. Whereas facebook didn't become "big" for me and my friends until the middle of our freshman year of college. It literally had no impact on our lives during our most impressionable years, and my mother was a SAHM(which I suppose is rare these days), so learning traditionalism from her impacted me too(as well as the friends I had that had moms that worked much less than their dads).

I think that's changed--a lot of women have two working parents, or one, and have grown up impacted by social media.... Things that used to be "stressed" for women that I remember being taught, don't seem to be as important anymore. People order out, don't know how to cook, work all day, then come home and post a lot of selfies or make videos.

Thats the reality spending too much time online, looking for someone "perfect"

Thats how these IG thots and these male celebs got the most followers. People wanting to be "perfect" in everyone eyes end up making everyone else depressed.

Like a man ranting why cant he find a video hoe to look like Draya and still be on that domestic housewife shyt. Makes no sense.

For real though it's not that complicated. Men are fairly simple creatures.

Be in shape, be someone that a breh will WANT to hang out with (have a personality, hobbies, interests, OTHER than church), be able to satisfy the man physically, and yeah be able to cook a meal because if you planning on being someones wife, you might have to cook for their kids or be a host if ya'll have company over.
