The sonics are not the same...most of the samples on HOE came from dusty ass records.
Putting a hi-pass filter on a portion of a song to make it sound "ethereal and airy" isn't grimy at all.
No time stretching, no "damn where he get that" loops. No nothing. Talking about sonics. Quit reading shyt and boosting your opinion when respected people reject artists you like. It's corny.

NY all day..Da Stead & BK..
This sounds ridiculous until you realize that Metro Boomin (arguably the dopest 'trap' producer ever) makes the most gutter-sounding dark trap.

A-Kak has a point but as usual, weak-ass hip hop journalism won't ask him to clarify what he means. They know him putting "Drake" in the same sentence as "Mobb Deep" is clickbait so it's best to leave it vague and stimulate fake outrage.

Why Mobb Deep and not 3-6 Mafia or even Live.Love.ASAP (as I said before, let's not pretend like Drake wasn't inspired by the dark hard shyt that Yams/Rocky were doing)

There are no similarities whatsoever. Disrespectful to put this garbage tape in the same sentence as a classic album.

One bangs your brains out, the other slaps like a lil byatch...

Imma have to agree with him, its a very dark album for this era...the crispness of the drums on this is very havoc like... "Madonna" is so mobb deep wu like

:dahell: Can you really not hear the similarities between songs like "Energy" or "0-100" and "Extortion?" The tight, 2-second samples that barely sound like music? The crisp snares? The hard, almost boom-bap kicks? The repetition in the damn-near non-existent hooks?

Fraud hip hop fans pretended like A-trak was buggin :mjlol: As if IYRTITL and WATTBA aren't the darkest, most atmospheric albums Drake's ever released (and coincidentally, when he had the streets eating from the palm of his hands)

If you listen to the first half of "Know Yourself", shyt like what A-trak is saying becomes blatantly obvious. But that's the problem with The Coli. Most of them don't actually listen to music nor have the depth to understand what they're listening to. They just dikkride consensus.

As I've said before, Drake does real hip hop better than the new savior frauds y'all dikkride. IYRTITL is basically made in the vein of "0 to 100" and "Started From The Bottom". Add "10 Bands" and "Know Yourself" and you've got 4 dope straight-up rap songs.

That's the same thing I thought of Boi1das beats on the album

Like I said... Boi 1da however

He's actually worked with mobb

everyone talks about 40 but Boi1da's the guy keeping Drake within hip hop. And this has been obvious since "Best I Ever Had" came out.
