Yes, because he is bad at setting screens. Has bad awareness. Has bad hands and isn't a good passer. He also hasn't been good as a switch defender. Notice how you listed all of those attributes and yet Kevon Looney is a better player.

This is like asking where was Iguodala supposed to fit when Draymond was the facilitator. The Warriors are not predicated on one player running the offense. They have relied on multiple ball handlers who can make decisions off the dribble.

Nobody said Melo is MJ. Nobody said Wiseman is Bowie either.

he's a 19 year old rookie that basically came straight from high school what in the fukk do you expect :heh:

I never said Dray was the sole facilitator but how ball dominant was Iggy in relation to a rookie who's been given the keys?

and nobody in their right mind thinks Loon is actually a better player, the point has been reiterated all season that the Dubs are trying to balance baptism by fire and him learning via the second unit, film, and veteran mentorship

If you gave him Melo's minutes he'd have way better numbers but the Warriors are trying to find the most pragmatic way to maximize his potential.
It's ok to sit on the bench, play less minutes and learn, it's not unheard of

By the way you cats judge shyt Michael Carter Williams and Brandon Jennings should have ended up top 10-15 players

look how that turned out :francis:

meanwhile you got a guy like Kawhi who was able to come into an already established, proven system and learn the ropes and look what he became.

As I said previously, the limited experience is part of the problem when building a roster to compete now and the foreseeable future.

Melo is not ball dominant. That is not how he's playing with the Hornets right now and the Warriors would gladly welcome a third player who can dribble and pass on this team.

Looney is better right now. That's why he's starting.

Wiseman would play more minutes if he were playing better.

MCW was terrible as a rookie, even when he was putting up box score numbers. Lets not use him as an analogue for Ball.

You mentioned Kawhi - he immediately stepped into the Spurs rotation and was a good, positive contributor to a playoff team as a rookie. Lets not use him as an analogue for Wiseman.

Agree.

Would folks say these same things about Dwight Howard coming out of high school right into the league?

His high school highlights ^^^

He was taken first, right out of school and I don't see anything in those highlights that stands out as something that Wiseman can't/doesn't do..

Dwight in his first season (at a time where the league was arguably more physical) averaged 12 points, 10 boards and close to 2 blocks.

You can argue that DH is a better player but I would argue that we don't know that yet. I think it's appropriate to compare them given the similarities. Wiseman is basically coming out of high school and his highlights are comparable to DH's before he got to the league.

you've put all your cards on the table and now I can really see this is really all about your subjective feelings for one player vs another

good to know :ehh:

Well yes, because he's joining a team with a championship level core when healthy.

THIS team w/o Klay isnt a Championship team tho so as of now he has time to learn and grow this year into a better player who can do those things at a higher level

EDIT: but yea like @CSquare43 said tho i aint gonna keep up the back n forth

some cat on the BBB payroll who historically has never really been in these threads out here fanboying and stanning and regretably I engaged him :hubie:

I'm done now tho :smugfavre:

Aside from @Gil Scott-Heroin and the creator of this thread, I've probably defended the Warriors harder than anyone on this board since joining the forum. I've also created video compilations highlighting Draymond Green's defense on YT.

I watch the team closely like anyone else here. Want the team to do well like anyone else here. If Wiseman turns into a star, great. I'm happy.

If you're done, I'm done.

He can certainly grow into a better player next year. But I'm skeptical that he can go from a bench player who isn't good enough to start for this Warriors team due to a myriad of issues not all related to experience, to a star in Y2. More reasonable to expect a gradual improvement overtime.

I'm not going to post repeatedly about this topic going forward unless quoted on it.

But Looney has reached his ceiling. Wiseman is just scratching the surface. Everything that is a knock on him can be improved. The knocks on Wiseman right now is, he's not a good rebounder (doesn't anticipate and get into good position), poor hands (looks like his mind is moving too fast) , and he sets soft screens. Those will improve. The thing I think that will really help is sticking those screens. When the defense gets scrambling, it will.open up so much more. By the end of the year, the game should have slowed down some for him.
