That's the thing, I don't expect the doctors to do their job. These hospitals are not only overcrowded, but often racist against blacks. Why depend on them when you can place matters in your own hands and lead an active life style? As I said before this can happen to anybody no matter the weight, but you obviously more at risk when you're overweigh.

We need to take care of ourselves better so less of us have to depend on these institutions. Things will not get better for us anytime soon, so we need to take matters in our own hands.

Where in my post did I say self diagnosing? Bold it out for me because I don't see it anywhere in my posts.

You were saying? Can't get bloodwork or screening done without doctors or visiting a clinic or hospital, no matter how physically active you are.

When I suffered through my heart attack, I stayed home for 4 hours hoping those chest pains would just go away. When I couldn't take the pain anymore, I walked a block to a clinic and told them I thought I was having a heart attack. They took my vitals real quick and called an ambulance. 20 minutes later I was in the E.R. They took vitals again and rushed my ass up to surgery in about 15 minutes flat.

Had a 99% occluded artery. Don’t remember my vitals because I was scared as fukk.

If her situation was as bad as mine, no way in HELL would they have not admitted her ASAP.

Enlarged heart due to miscarriage, that’s terrible...
No - the article said that could have been an underlying issue prior to the pregnancy. That's the problem - no one properly diagnosed her before, during or after her pregnancy to let it get to a more serious condition in the first place.

Oh mi god. Are you serious right now?? Are you actually blaming her for her condition and for doctors not giving her the proper attention?? Ignorant as fuk. People are BORN with heart conditions and other diseases that are either genetic or environmental. What do you say to a person born with sickle cell?? That's not treatable or preventable. That's the purpose of having a doctor - to diagnose causes, symptoms and advise treatment. Are you that dumb or hateful?? What... so we should all learn how to do open heart surgery on ourselves and not rely on doctors?? Fuk is wrong is some of yall in here. There are babies born with cancer, skin diseases, blood conditions - what do you say to that?? Sorry little infant, you shouldn't have received air from your mother's womb? That's how retahded you sound right now. Not every life threatening condition is ruled down to lack of exercise or nutrition, lifestyle choices.

But you leave out any culpability for the Doctor. Did your dumbass know that most people admitted to hospitals get sicker as a result of the lack of hygienic practices within the hospital itself. Nevermind the pharmaceutical toxicity of pills and drugs they pump people with rather than address the cause of the issue.

I was always under the assumption that chest paint patients go to the front of the line to be seen. She should have got an ekg fairly quick

nah thats totally wrong
i took my mom to the er once with chest pains and her blood pressure was extremely high
er was packed as hell annd they did nothing

I work in a hospital as well and my mom is a nurse, ended up driving her to her hospital where luckily staff she knew were working in emerge and got her through right away

the best thing this woman could have done is leave the hospital call 911 when a ambulance takes you , you get service asap

Low sodium, lots of iron/potassium/etc. I also walk about 5 mi./day.

Heart disease runs in my family.

Only thing I do differently now is take one aspirin/day.

Blaming black people for doctors not seeing them in an ER for an emergency condition, in a timely manner?? I swear some of yall rather hate or hand down judgement on your own people than put that weight back on the backs of those who are in a position of authority or responsibility for doing what they are trained or educated to do. Dude is responding on here like googling WEB MD can resolve the health issues, not the people who spend 12 years studying medicine. Not the government for tainting the water and food supply. Not Bigpharma for the over "drugification" of America. @Ezekiel 25:17 so I guess the people in Flint, Michigan who are poisoned, suffer the effects of lead exposure and develop cancer from their local government tainted water supplies are to blame for their conditions?

Also if she simply stayed put, her visual symptoms would have elevated to the point she would be seen as an emergency, and would have been able to get treated right on site rather than being in transit somewhere else. Don’t go to urgent care if you are having an actual emergency. It’s obviously better than nothing, but if it’s a real emergency they will simply call an ambulance and take you at an actual hospital. I went to the urgent care on the corner right next to my house twice a couple years ago and all they did was stabilize me and call an ambulance to transport me to a full hospital
I’m almost certain I read she was waiting for over 2 hours? How much longer was she supposed to wait? Once she collapsed is when they would have given her priority?

To all the people talking about she was "fat and overweight" with the "black people need to do better.." explain the upsure in black male college athletes dying with sudden cardiac arrest syndrome. Perfectly healthy by all accounts, no weight issues, in shape, regular exercise and nutrition. This requires physician assistance to self report - how do we know or not if the doctors are treating them for underlying conditions and causes.
The mean age was 17 years (range, 12 to 40 years); 90% were male and 44% were black. Basketball and football players accounted for 68% of the deaths. The National Center for Catastrophic Sports Injury Research identified 160 athletes dying from nontraumatic causes.
