I FELT U UNTIL THE LAST PARAGRAPH....BUT DRAKE AND 40 KNOW AALIYAH THROUGH HER MUSIC...THESE ARE TWO PEOPLE WHO.HAVE REDEFINED TWO DIFFERENT GENRES OF MUSIC BY EXPANDING ON AND IMPLEMENTING DIFFERENT STYLINGS FROM THE PEOPLE THAT INSPIRED THEM. IT TAKES COUNTLESS HOURS OF STUDYING AND MENTAL FOCUS TO REALLY FEEL AND DISECT ANY PIECE OF MUSIC. THESE DUDES HAVR BEEN WAITING TO MAKE THIS PROJECT FOR YEARS AND THEIR HARD WORK DEDICATION TO THEPROJECT WILL SHINE THROUGH. ITLL PUT AALIYAH INTO THIS MODERN ERA OF MUSIC IN A WAY THAT TIMBO AND MISSY CANT BECAUSE THEY ARENT AS RELEVANT AND IN TUNE WITH THE MUSIC AS THEY ONCE WERE....THIS PROJECT JUST REEKS OF CREATIVITY..
.AND LETS SAY THAT ROZAY AND JL PRODUCED A BIGGIE ALBUM
...WE WOULD ALL BE CONFIDENT IN THE FACT THAT THE BEAT SELECTION.AND FEATURE SELECTIONS WOULD BE NEXT LEVEL BECAUSE ROSS UNDERSTANDS AND APPRECIATEA BIGGIES STYLE, THEREFORE HE WOULD APPROACH IT AS IF HE WERE BIG...NOT LIKE PUF CUZ UM BIGGIE DUETS<<<< PUFF AND BIG WERE SUPPOSEDLY BESTIES BUT BIGGIES POST DEATH LBUMS ARE SH**. Ā….MY POINT HERE IS THAT AN EXPERIENCED ARTIST THAT FOUND HIS/HER INFLUENCE IN ANOTHER ARTIST IS BETTER EQUIPED TO OVERSEE A SITUATION SUCH AS THIS BECAUSE THEY KNOW AND UNDERSTAND THE MUSIC FROM THE FANS PERSPECTIVE...THEY KNOW WHAT HITS HOME AND THEY KNOW WHATS GONNA REGISTER WITH FANS FROM AN EMOTIOL STANDPOINT BECAUSE THEYVE BEEN IN THE FAN'S SHOES...

Drake and 40 haven't re-defined anything. The sound scape of Hip Hop and R&B is the same as it was before they impacted. That's something that Timbaland and Missy were credited with doing in the 90's. Drake and 40 have used influences from Kanye's 808's and Heartbreaks, 80's and '90's R&B to develop their sound.

Ross and J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League creating something dope wouldn't be the issue. It would still receive backlash from Biggie fans because Ross nor JL knew or ever worked with Biggie. The reason why the post-death Biggie albums catch flack despite Diddy knowing and working with Biggie is artists that Biggie never worked with or knew were thrown on to those projects. Producers that Biggie never worked with or knew were producing the tracks.

Flack from people who have been fans who really have no interest in hearing unreleased vocals over new production. It doesn't matter whether they post on the Internet or not, they are still REAL people.

YEAH 808S WAS A MAJOR INFLUENCE ON DRAKE&40 BUT SO WAD THE TIMBO/MISSY/AALIYAH ERA. ITS EVIDENT ON THROUGHOUT DRAKE'S CATALOG POST SFG. AND TO SAY THAT DRAKE HASN'T RAISED THE BAR IN BOTH HIPHOP AND RNB IS RIDICULOUS BECAUSE HE'S ARGUABLY THE BEST HIPHOP ARTUST AND RNB ARTIST WHEN YOU PUT IT IN THE TERMS OF; "WHOS MAKIN THE BEST HIPHOP MUSIC AND WHOS MAKIN THE BEST RNB MUSIC?". DRAKE RAISED THE BAR IN BOTH GENRES WITH HOS MATERIAL. BUT BACK THE POINT THO ...THIS IS NO DIFFERENT THAN THE 2PAC DUETS TAPE OR THE NOTORIOUS XX TAPE OR THE BIGGIE BLENDS TAPES. YOU DON'T HEAR NOBODY TRYNA DSCREDIT IT JUST BECAUSE DJ THREEMICS DIDNT KNOW PAC AND THE TAPE DIDNT HAVE A COSIGN FROM THE OUTLAWS. ITS MUSIC. LET CREATIVE PEOPLE DO CREATIVE THINGS. MISSY AND TIMBO WASNT THINKIN ABOUT MAKIN NO AALIYAH RECORDS UNTIL DUDE EXPRESSED INTEREST. THE FANS WANT AND YOU HAVE TWO OF THE ILLEST MINDS IN MUSIC EAGER TO WORK ON IT AND PUT IT OUT. ITS NOT ABOUT THE MONEY FOR THEM. THEY HAVE THAT. THEY HAVE SO MUCH BREAD THAT IT BORES THEM. THEY'RE DOIN THIS FOR THE LOVE AND ITA GON BE CRACK AND IM SURE THAT ITLL VE A BETTER PRODUCT THAN TIM AND MISSY SHOULDA/COULDA/WOULDA PUT OUT COLLECTIVITY.

regardless of who you would rather see complete this project. tim and missy should atleast be involved. drake and 40 should want them involved if they really care about her vision so much.

the fact that they havnt even got in contact leads me to believe this is for the fame

Im actually really hyped for this and have more faith in Drake and 40's vision than I do Timbo's in 2012

Not to take anything away from Tim's legendary run in the 90s, but its been awhile since we heard any heat from the guy

People didn't complain because blend tapes and mixtapes are different from someone taking unreleased material, reworking it and releasing it like it's new. Drake & 40 are essentially marketing tools to market Aaliyah's music to a new generation. A mixtape of unreleased Aaliyah material produced by 40 featuring Drake wouldn't be more of an act of love. A mixtape or blend tape would not be asking Aaliyah fans to shell out at least $9.99 for something that they don't necessarily agree with no matter how dope it is.

Regardless, the posthumous Aaliyah album seems like it is more for Drake/40 fans than it is for Aaliyah fans. Of course, Drake is a fan, but it's essentially his & 40's vision for how Aaliyah's music should sound rather than Aaliyah's vision. That's where the issue lies. Even though Drake and 40 are popular and dope artists in their own right, this is essentially a fan made album for retail. It's no different from a random fan creating their own Aaliyah project and putting out.

I mean sure, a small amount of people would've complained even if it sounded good.
BUT IT DIDN'T SOUND GOOD -- that's the reason that MOST people were disappointed. If they'd brought classics the love would've drowned out the few critics. For example: "Dead Wrong" -- one the few actually dope tracks to come out the mess -- yea some people still can't accept Em being on it, but overwhelmingly it got love.

but the rest sounded noticeably scrapped together randomly, over mediocre production. & Puff let himself go overboard with the Commercialism -- something that Biggie worked hard to keep balanced. Somebody like Justice League & Ross would approach the project with reverence. They'd think like the fans, cause they are that, except with excellent resources, & being reknowned for their beat selection.

it hurts MY soul to hear him flopping & flailing so hard these days. have you heard his "Timbaland Thursdays"??? his atrocious pop rock album with Chris Cornell???? His David Guetta, Katy Perry shyt???? ... Really, that's the shyt that hurts my heart, cause I've actually listened, repeatedly, trying to find the good in his current material, cause I know how fresh & mindblowing he can be. That's not where his heart is anymore.

So True, Dudes in here talking about "40 better than Timbaland". Stop it. 40 can only dream of making the types of beats that CHANGED MUSIC the way Timbaland did. Ok he did a few hot albums with Drake. Timbaland got a CATALOG of hot beats that are lightyears better than anything 40 has done. The Production on "One in a Million" alone is better than both Drake albums it's not even debatable. Just cuz Tim is on his international techno ish don't mean he can't produce heat. I'll still take Timbaland TODAY doing unreleased Aaliyah over Drake and 40.

If Timbo and Missy ain't involved then it's no need for this album to me made. I specifically remember her brother saying the family did not approve of this album. Now if that's the case then Drake should just lieave well enough alone. I mean i understand he's a fan but she didn't even know dude for real.
