Youre right about the respectability politics stuff.

But he was SPOT ON about the apathy of cacs overriding sympathy or empathy they have. I have said it on here many times but the "hate" that cacs have for us is pretty overstated. The average cac (or any other ethnicity/race) simply does not care about Black people and that apathy is in many ways more harmful than hate.

Because we are seen as a monolithic group by all other races while cacs view themselves as individuals. If some idiot is acting a darn fool what’s it got to do with me and why should I be penalised in some form?

This is why our media needs to be controlled more. The images of Black Men & Women can be weaponized against us to demonize us. Why are Black Men so annoyed with the images of the Cardi B's and Sexxy Red's of the world? Because we know it has impact on how BW are being viewed and stains our culture.

I don't think he's completely off base here I've been always told that when you walk outside you're not just representing yourself and your family, but also other Black people. BTW this isn't to try to appease white sentiment or anything. As @feelosofer mentioned we need it for US.
