nikka wtf are you talking about ? not only am I half african, I have been to africa. In fact I was just there last month. :wtf:

I was not called a black man one time in kinshasa. wtf are you talking about?

abroad, I am considered a man first, american second, and black third. where the fukk have you been because Ive been to 5 continents.

show me where egyptians, who Im pretty sure is who you are talking about recognized shade cause it def wasnt west africans....called themselves black. Ill wait.
lol :dead:

I'm not called a black man in Africa either.(but it's understood I'm black ) A cac isn't called a white man by every CAC when he visits Europe either:ld:

Don't pretend not to see the point. And you're right..... people see us as American first. But this absoul and the other new blacks........ and the lost ones like you aren't......... saying I'm not black for the sake of saying "i'm just a man" When you are speaking within the framework of the current paradigm and living within those same social constructs ----- Then say " I'm not black " You are REALLY saying........." I'm ashamed not only of the label, but of everything that comes with it......... and I want to pick and chose my history. I want to grandstand.. and be a pseudo intellectual..... I'm just a man... I'll keep my ears covered and eyes closed and State proudly........... I'm a man , I'm not black"

And all over East Africa, north Africa......they knew they were black. THEY TRADED with others more than some southern and west african tribes so they were Forced to make distinctions of race and culture more often.

As far as more modern times are concerned.... It's just a term to unite us or to SELF identify. Regardless of who uses it ... we did it first. We are called black and should be proud to be .....

We black men have a hard enough time in our own struggle for justice, and already have enough enemies as it is, to make the drastic mistake of attacking each other and adding more weight to an already unbearable load.

you change the stigma by broadening the examples of blackness, not by shunning it.

too many of these new people only concerning freeing THEMSELVES from oppression and not the collective.

now for the bolded:
you speak in generalizations. A lot of black people have values, goals, families and morals. The blacks who might not have these are exemplified in media to perpetuate the belief that a majority of blacks lack these.

Looking at our beginnings in America, we have pulled ourselves up by the bootstraps more than any other identity group in America. No other group has faced the systemic racism that we have, and we still have overcome, and even if we all disappeared tomorrow, our impact and imprint on America is still permanent and would be around long after us as a people.

We invented modern American music (jazz, rock, rap)
Our free labor was the backbone for the industrial revolution
We spearheaded the rights movements that gave feminism and gay rights a blueprint

The negative stigma about being black will be cast upon you regardless of you denouncing your race or not. They do not find strength in being identified as black, and that is truly sad that we have reached that point in our collective history. It is on us proud black people to silence their voice, and not let the media exploit their message, and have younger blacks thinking that this is a key to success. Because it is not.

If they keep promoting this message, eventually we will see black suicide rates skyrocket. Self hate will eat you up. And when they kill themselves because they hate their black skin, even in death their statistics will contribute to the suicide rates for BLACK people, so even in death they cannot escape the black identity. These fools need to wake the fukk up.

They're everywhere tbh....

All I know is that I see where some of these guys come from. Its hard to debate racists nowadays because they have SO MUCH ammunition against us. I cant even defend my own people anymore so while I dont agree with it, I understand why some blacks dont want anything to do with the rest of their race

You're just as pathetic as him then, coming from your perspective.

You need someone else to discuss THEIR life and THEIR accomplishments, to validate YOUR life.

That's the saddest shyt I've ever read, you're so dependent on other people speaking and representing you, that you can't actualize deep down and go"Hey, I can represent myself, my blackness just fine, in fact ANYWAY I please.".

You let White Supremacy infect you thought process this much, worse part is, you think you're enlighten in your social circles when that isn't the case deep down.
I dont feel the need to validate anyone, nor do i seek anyone else's. I DO see the danger in a collective of people being defined by a single narrative however, and I encourage others to discuss their life and accomplishments just as i discuss mine.

they represent me just as much as i represent them when i am in a classroom where i am the only black. I am advocating for all to take pride in their experiences as being black in America. BUT dont get shyt twisted, i can still be proud of someone without wishing that i lived vicariously though them.

And you know nothing of my thought process. If you think you can tell some shyt from behind a keyboard, you are sadly mistaken.

Its how a lot of people are naturally wired

How we view ourselves a lot of time correlates with how we think people view us.

Youre putting words in his mouth. He said hes a man, which he is, and you right away attribute that to him being ashamed to be black despite this particular artist being VERY well known for his problack lyrics. So no, thats not what he meant at all. All he was saying is, he is a MAN before all. which is absolutely true.

people ashamed of being black...:mjcry:
the day i denounce my black identity, is the day when i realize my life has no meaning.
dissasociating yourself from the black race identity only ostracizes yourself from the community, while other races will continue to view you in context to your identity. Lose/lose.

sometimes this ignorance is needed to spur dialogue on the subject though. maybe one day he will see the error in his words.

what would be ideal for all these new blacks, is to speak about their unique experiences as black people, which is different from the mainstram sterotypical portrayals. they could expand what it means to be black in america, and add a new perspective to our community, instead of disowning a definitive part of their heritage.
Maybe you don't understand the mentality it takes for a man to become a Newblack.

The mental trauma doesn't allow for them to speak about any experience under the umbrella of being black in America - they only speak as people on the outside of black Americans.

They falsely believe they will be accepted by the mainstream when instead they become mindless tools. :mjcry: I have a younger cousin who is starting to get into politics.... nikkas are socalled proud of him - but I can already see that he's lost. He has cut communication from me completely and I grew up with this dude. He doesn't want to hear ^ this type of shyt you're talking about..... He feels that most blacks are ________(fill in the black) and he actually feels he needs to disassociate from black people so that he can eventually act for the betterment of all blacks.

Since AB-Soul is deep into spirituality maybe he's trying to disassociate himself from labels? Self Realization means leaving behind attachments of any kind.........but if he was really trying to do that he would also stop associating himself with any gender :patrice:

let's get ONE thing straight.

you can't be jabbing motherfukkers and except people to not defend themselves against attack.

like for instance, someone in here brought up the fact that i was gay and used it to insult me or attack me when NEVER mentioned it or brought it up in the conversation to begin with. in fact, many people like to do that shyt for whatever reason, bring it up for whatever reason. when i defend myself or go like "why are you dissing me because i'm gay?" they tell me to shut the fukk up and tolerate it, that i deserve it and etc. so don't even go there with that bullshyt, man. i don't even mention the shyt like that. other people DO. they're the ones ready to get confrontational with me about it...
ok..

ok maybe I took this his comments wrong way then....

"Wait! Before I go, l'd just like to remind all my brothaz & sistaz that "black" is an "English" word! Ok, bye
""man" is the common noun, "black" is the subjective adjective."
right, so are we black or english? English meaning from England, Mexican meaning from Mexico, etc."

Either he's saying...... It's bad because we are using an English word ( which is retarded because this is the language we speak and We understand the definition.... And that would mean by default ALL words we say are Evil)

Or he's saying ..........
Black isn't what proud black people say it is........ More than just a word.......... instead it's just a subjective adjective, whatever whoever says it is.

I believe the young Breh is just ignorant of history, especially African history... and he's lacking in some pride. I think you should gain some - then Twitter him something or Tweet... idk I don't have a twitter.

question.

when the cops ID a suspect in an all white neighborhood, the suspect is white, do they use white? or just his physical description?

do we use european american?

when talking about white statistics, do we use americans, or white american?

with that being said, is this because of the lack of pride white people have?

I just don't get it.....Maybe its because I hang with black people all the damn time that embraces who they are, but I don't see how any black man & woman can be ashamed of being labeled "Black". That's what I identify myself as and I'm not gonna distance myself away from it like these c00ns. Being black is a very unique thing and I wouldn't give it up for the world. Disowning your blackness is just as crippling as dealing with these racist cacs.

It don't matter if your light skin or dark skin, rich or poor, dumb or intelligent, a doctor or a career criminal.....We all the same.
