Being Black isn't just about the color of your skin. Being Black is a state of consciousness in this white world where people of color are exploited and slaughtered to finance a system of white supremacy. Being Black is an understanding of your history as a Black man, to know about the enslavement of African people, to know about the slave rebellions from men like Nat Turner, to know about the post-slavery system of Jim Crow that continues to this day in spite of socalled "civil rights," to know about the Black men and women who sacrificed limb and - oftentimes - life so that Ab Soul can even even have a music career and eat off his musical talent. I am sick and fukking tired of these scared and ignorant house ******s tap dancing for white people and acting as if the crumbs they enjoy means racism is a thing of the past.

If you are not Black, you are white. :camby:

Out here in my damn drawls
Okay okay, I get it now. Being "black" is dirty, and it somehow cheapens our natural, obvious manhood and makes us lesser forms of males, therefore, we should just stop using it altogether, yes :ld:?

That's what I'm getting out of this thread: "Black" is somehow a psychologist hinderence to men and women and self-actualization and cultural identity will hold us back

Our people, man

Ab-Soul is the same nikka that supported Christopher Dorner.

His opinions are not to be trusted.

If he wants to make a statement like this, he should expand on what he means exactly. Me for example, yeah I'm a black man because I was labeled as such in this white mans world, but when it comes down to it, I'm a man and not only that...being 'Black' I'm the original man. Listening to Ab Soul music through the years, it would seem this is what he means.

Watch this video from the honorable Brother Leo Muhammad for insight on what I mean about the labels

We were never just men and women. Our regions, cultures, customs, skin colors, eye colors, hair colors, facial structures, etc, have always been a point of identity.

Exactly...I think it's disingenuous and ignorant to speak as if there are no real differences amongst us. Yes, we're all human but within that sphere there are variations.

Instead of trying to act like we are all the same, how about we embrace our differences and accept others for who they are? When we can't do that and try to blend in, it's as if we're saying it isn't okay to be different.

dad sees himself as a black man
sidney poitier sees himself as simply a man.
