A lot of people in these comments bigging up HBCU alumni that are 45 and older - I feel you because members of my family went to HBCU's and are doing extremely well..
they come from a different era, education was something important and revered back then..most of these people would have done well in life no matter where they went, an HBCU just gave them an avenue that was closed off for previous generations
now with PWI's actively pursuing minority applicants, more 2 year community colleges, trade schools, the "for profit" schools (full sail, ITT tech, Devry)...HBCU's aren't as relevant or as necessary as they once were...
Noticed OP never answered this question. Which is suspect to me why not state the school name..Which HBCU did you attend?
I'm just venting a bit but all of this is fact based. I was at a state school (PWI) before I transferred to an HBCU on a military scholarship. Bear in mind in order to accept the scholarship and ultimately pursue the military career I wanted, I had to finish my last 2 years at an HBCU.
I'm a little dissatisfied with a few things:
-Lack of funding. There's no gym. We were allowed to use anoother gym down there street but a fight broke out, and now everyone from my school is banned. Even though we pay an athletic/gym fee
-Mf's here blatantly skip class for 3-6 weeks at a time. Why pay 30k a year to not go to class?and then when we do have to do some work i.e. Writing a 1-3 page paper, these same people are complaining like the professors are pulling teeth. At the state school the black pop was like 45%, but if you were fukking around academically, the other black people there would sort of distance themselves from you. -Overcharging for dorms
-I rarely get emails in my student email account. On the rare occasion I get a reminder to vote for SGA or something. No reminders for internships or job fairs. But I get an email for the Que cookout we had last Sunday
-Administraion losing documents for W/e reason
-People are scheduled to graduate one semester then they "magically" need 2 more classes to graduate aka the school wants them to stay longer so they can get more money
-Before I even came I had to get some documents signed by my (soon to be) major chair of the program I'm in..this woman took 6 months to sign 2 pieces of paper. Then acted like I was harassing her when I called to check on it, when I had to turn the necessary paperwork to my boss
-Students more worried about Greek life, running for SGA, etc then actual work. Like wtf man. Ive gotten some draws but yo in the grand scheme of things that's a small part of the equation..you can always get draws if you decent looking but I have a problem with these schools being poorly ran and they try to cover it up under the guise of "We need HBCU's" well Shii I agree. I also stand by what I've noticed in the time I've spent at one
I'm not bashing HBCU's but It's just frustrating..I feel like they're robbing students smh charging 30k a year and Shii don't even work right or run smoothly.
You're a dumb, self hating, sambo, c00n. You know nothing of HBCUs or the HBCU experience. I'm a proud HBCU grad with a net worth greater than your entire families existence. But you seem like a bitter, miserable fakkit, hence the reason behind your salty posts.
Get a clue fakkit.

can't speak for the OP but I don't name the ones I went to out of respect.
my experience was bad but others might not have been, I still have friends that i stay in touch with I met at those schools

So, I'm in Texas, which HBCU should I be looking at?

I'm convinced that most of the post in here against HBCUS are from people who have never stepped foot in one.
I don't know any HBCU grads that are successful that talk like this about our schools. In the SWAC school pride is real.
