I swear if this any other player that did this the responses would be a lot different lol
Do you understand gameplan? Phil was instructing bean to facilitate . You are not winning a game 7 on the road with that shytty roster and Kobe taking a shyt load of shots . We needed Smush and company to have big games to have a chance .

This doesn’t even make sense. So he waited until they were up 3-1 to “prove a point”?

Kobe has one of the greatest PR campaigns ever. Him dying tragically with his daughter has made a lot of people go full retard with revisionism.

If any other player did this y’all would be saying they quit. Stop the cap. He quit and that’s okay to admit because he came back to win two more titles. Every great has had bad playoff moments.
Everybody was criticizing Kobe in real time for this shyt wtf are you even talking about. We live in the internet era, go do a google search. :mjlol: You’ll find articles, tv show clips and messages boards getting on him for it. Some said he quit some said he was proving a point but the talking points were always there

Gameplay or not, one shot in the second half?

I’m not even trying to hate but come on man…

To prove a point. So they gave up a 3-1 lead and he stopped shooting because he got in his feelings? Ibrons this the "Mamba Mentality" you guys like to spew?

Nobody with a brain think kobe would quit, he was hellbent on winning a title without Shaq. No way a player with his mindset quits, especially after all the heroics and effort he put in that season. Phil Jackson himself said he was doing what he was instructed. The coach himself told yall this and you still decide to run with bs narratives, trump supporter status. Imagine thinking kobe Bryant would quit in a fukking game 7....Jesus

I never said he didn’t get criticized for it. I literally gave him props for coming back after the series and winning two more chips.

I’m saying there’s a reason why you hear more about Kobe shooting free throws with a torn Achilles than his 2004 series versus the Pistons, this series, the Colorado case or anything else negative. He greatly benefited from a rebrand and a lot of his mishaps happening before the social media era.

Add into the fact he did tragically with his daughter and it’s made people walk a thin line because any type of criticism would be seen as insensitive.

Kobe’s lowest moments of his career were constantly brought up. During his playing days, right after he retired and in death. You must be looking only at Kobe Stan Twitter :mjlol:

So Cal
Kobe propaganda machine truly the best in the business. Bron would probably murder an infant or two to get the kinda false narrative ball washing that Bean does.
Bron quit cause his teammate smashed his mom and it never gets brought up. He gets more passes than anybody in sports history.

Maybe he was. I still think Jackson keeps his thoughts on this to himself if Kobe was still alive. Like he had been for the almost 20 years since that game.
Podcasts didnt exist 20 years ago,ex-players obviously have a lot more venues and space to tell stories at their own liberty.

Where would he talk about this back then? Give an exclusive to ESPN while hes still an active NBA player?

nikkas are losers. We were only up 3-1 in the first place because Kobe was facilitating. He scored 50 in G6 and Phil wanted to talk shyt. So yeah, Kobe proved a point in G7.

And they were the 7th seed. Not like he was winning 66 games and getting his ass beat in the playoffs like Bron in Cleveland.

Also funny how nikkas talk about Kobe's "PR machine" when Bron literally created an entire company for it.
