Yep I’m tryna start right now too so I have the experience. And yeah covid set back my transfer too, hope shyt is in person when I transfer at least. How many accounting classes do you take in biz admin-accounting? I’m tryna get a bs in accounting :patrice:
I have a Financial Accounting class and a Managerial Accounting Class left for the Associates For Transfer along With A Computer Info & Science class. Upper Division classes I'm not sure. I already have an Associates For Transfer in Poli Sci but I hate excessively dealing with people and the only way to make anything near decent money in Poli Sci is to be in the thick of things people wise. My associates are AAs not ASs. If I go to Fullerton all they offer is a BA in Biz Admin Acct, same with San Marcos. With a BS from SDSU course site says for Bus Admin ACCT

Accountancy 331
Accountancy 332
Accountancy 333
Accountancy 334
Accountancy 390W
Accountancy 431
Accountancy 432

For a BA Bus Admin Acct at CSU Fullerton

Accounting 301A
Accounting 301B
Accounting 302
Accounting 307
Accounting 308
Accounting 401
Accounting 402

Either way that's 7 in addition to the 2 lower division basic ACCT classes. I know BS is said to be more technical than BA but damn man. They say they're equal but my I can't shake the notion there's cap there. If one is more difficult it would be assumed more valuable for something, if not logically everyone would have a BA. It's also said BA is broader, and gives you a more "full" spectrum of knowledge. At a certain point a breh wants to have a reliable good paying office job, not get hooked on adderall pushing through brutal classes.

You tryna be a CPA at some point or get some level of certs postgraduate?

Had multiple job offers before i even graduated. Its very easy to find work as an accountant. People with degrees in accounting account for literally zero percent of the unemployment rate. Anybody saying its hard is uninformed or lying. Apply for an internship to get some experience while your in school and you'll be good.

Sadly me being in L.A, the valley no less, I’m probably gonna end up at a white firm/company. I’m looking at the white kids on my LinkedIn that go to my school and they have accounting jobs rn without a bachelors degree yet, so I’m thinking if they can do it, I can do it. I been applying to everything that pops up for the last 2 months and haven’t even secured an interview:huhldup:just trying to apply what I learn as I progress in college cuz rn I feel I haven’t learned/retained anything due to online classes.

You are thinking too small. Instead of going to the typical firms, go to a Supply Chain, Construction, or Skill Trade company. They always need Accountants

Plus you'll learn 10x more at those places than any of those firms where most of them are one track minded

Most of those big Corporations want to hire one track minded workers that do repetitive tasks and are specific to just that company. No way you can really learn that way. Then when you go to another job, you all confused because you have been pigeon holed into one type of thing, one type of process. Thats why people who get denied by these jobs shouldn't even sweat it

While when you do Accounting/Finance for other industries like Construction or Supply Chain you deal with all types of shyt. Because you come in contact with so many different companies on a day to day basis and have to keep track of them. Different type of software, way more skills to learn, more focus on getting certifications, etc. So many jobs no one knows about like Cost Estimator, Cost Engineer, Logistics Consultant, Warehouse Manager, Pricing Analyst, Procurement Analyst, Industrial Engineer, Auditor, etc

You get that experience, you can get into any company and make good money

Well , I got started in my mid twenties with contracting with oil and gas.

Just regular A/R, A/P and a few JE's.. I moved up to cash apps, Staff accounting, GL, Fixed asset manager to Treasury director.

Once you have the experience the specific accounting degree helps alot but if you just have a Bus admin with a focus on accounting you will be good. Just get in the door connecting with some staffing agencies that are finance/accounting focused. There is a lot of opportunity out there, especially for a newbie.

Oh so those classes are enough to cover the cpa minimum:ohhh:. And yeah I’m tryna be a CPA. If I wasn’t tryna be HBCU bound I’d hit sdsu in a heartbeat, that in-state tuition:wow:.

If I wasn't broke and shook of loans I would love to hit an HBCU, seeing black and living among black folk in my age group pursuing a constructive future, fine intelligent sistas, culture :ohlawd:

As far as being a CPA (at least in Cali) the following is necessary but upon completion of a Bachelor's you should have the bolded.
  • A bachelor’s degree;
  • 24 semester units in accounting-related subjects;
  • 24 semester units in business-related subjects;
  • 150 semester units (or 225 quarter units) of education;
  • Passing the Uniform CPA Exam;
  • Passing the Professional Ethics Exam for CPAs; and
  • One year of general accounting experience supervised by a CPA with an active license.

how sway?:dwillhuh:
Probably in AR/collections/billing or AP. They're accounting department staff, but hose positions don't usually require formal education.
Staff accnt, audit or internal tax accnt will generally require bachelor's degree at minimum. External/3rd party audit and tax usually need cpa
