This.

Thing is, I'll probably never listen to them again though. It's not wack, but it's honestly not that good either. I don't know what it is about dude's music. I always check for it, and never revisit it.

Because it's trash. And there aren't enough marketing dollars to go around to make it seem better.

the most I'd give them is voice and similarities in delivery (screaming their bars)

Action's flow most closely resembles Fat Joe. Ghost is more sporadic in his raps. Just cause Action went full-retard and spits out dumb shyt doesn't mean it's the same as Ghost going crazy.

Ghost raps cryptically
Action raps outlandish

they're completely different

Which one is it? are they similar in some ways or completely different? are we comparing Andre 3000 and Kendrick here or DMX and J Cole?

we're comparing 'they're' and 'their'

sound the same, mean different

You're twisting yourself into corners trying to justify that Action and Ghostface don't sound alike. I guess all those comparisons to Ghostface came out of thin air, right?

The fact of the matter is that Action is a watered down clone of Ghostface. He's not a 1-to-1 copy of Ghostface because that's impossible for any artist. But he's at least 80% Ghostface. The issue is: is that tolerable? For some, it is. For others like myself, it's not.

you mean Ghostface's identity, right?
:snoop:

We all know about the similarities, they've been discussed in several threads. Nobody stole Ghosts identity, was he one of the many influences for Mr. Baklava, yes, but thats where it ends. Everybody got over it, you should too.

I'm a Action fan but I'm kinda disappointed in this. He basically gave us an EP or glorified mixtape. 13 tracks, four of them only 2 min long, and an interlude. :francis:

A light in the addict has such a dope beat but only 1 verse on 5 minute track :dahell: Falconry might be my favorite track :whew:

While I understand your need to quickly sweep this under the rug, the fact of the matter is that Action Bronson doesn't have a core identity that's different from Ghost. Period. You'll keep bumping into this problem because it's inescapable and obvious. He's basically a lamer version of Ghostface. The differences are there, but they're trivial. Like Ghostface is not into wrestling, and Action is. Ghost talks about food, but Action was an actual chef. Ghost is a Stapleton nikka, and Action plays up his semi-white trash taste for jokes.

But deep down, they're basically approaching rap in the same way: colorful, larger-than-life outlandish NY rap nikka with a penchant for food and 'real hip hop'. Except one is the original and WAY better at it. And the other is coasting by on a gimmick.

We often look at mainstream hip hop being full of gimmicks, but forget that the underground has some of the lamest gimmicks of all-time while pretending they aren't, which adds a layer of pretentiousness that doesn't exist in mainstream.
