Y’all don’t even see that we’ve literally just seen the 2020’s version of what happened with Cosby.

Right down to a black comedian being the cause of the fukkery. Rock = Burress. Will = Cosby.

Whole thing has literally played out the same way.

Roman Polanski was a convicted pedophile and fugitive when he was given his award :unimpressed:

No dog in this race, but the reality is he didn’t do his crimes on TV. Will has himself to blame for this. Biggest night of his life ruined because he couldn’t handle his emotions. You damn right the Academy will make an example of him.

Doubt that... Awards are mostly about prestige and furthering the "arts".. Studios still gonna do Bad Boys type cash grabs
Yes, but the whole purpose of King Richard and Will Smith's Oscar campaign was to take him out of the :flabbynsick:Bad Boy type of cash grab league and into the prestigious productions categorie. He can forget about that now. That succubus he's married to managed to ruin his career just by rolling her eyes :francis:

Keeping my overhead low, and my understand high
(CNN) - Will Smith will not be allowed to attend the Academy Awards for the next ten years, as a result of his slapping comedian Chris Rock on-stage during this year's Oscar ceremony, The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts & Sciences announced in a statement obtained by CNN.

"The Board has decided, for a period of 10 years from April 8, 2022, Mr. Smith shall not be permitted to attend any Academy events or programs, in person or virtually, including but not limited to the Academy Awards," Academy President David Rubin and CEO Dawn Hudson said in a statement on Friday.

Will Smith barred from Academy events for 10 years, including the Oscars - CNN

that's fair

He's going to be hurting for a bit but he can also rebrand himself and his road to "redemption", do some documentaries, take on some different roles and do more comedy.
I’m sure Tyler Perry is like this right now

His actions. His consequences. I gotta say, though, I feel bad for Jada in all of this. That she was thrust into the middle of this drama, really through no fault of her own. It was a tasteless joke about a woman suffering from a disease. She didn't have to laugh. And Will didn't have to get physical on her behalf. Sadly, I see she is catching most of the blame for not laughing at a joke that was made at her expense. I think a lot of people have a subconscious bias against black women, and the fact that a black man stood up for his black wife rubbed people the wrong way. At the core of Will's reaction to the joke was an acknowledgement that his wife--a black woman--has intrinsic value that he felt the need to defend. It goes against what we are taught, as a society, about black women; that they have no worth. This situation was only compounded by the fact that a black man was the one defending a black woman because that goes against what we are taught, as a society, about black men; that black men have no power. Again, I think a lot of this is subconscious, and is a big part of the reason why so many people, white people especially, were/are bothered by his actions. Hollywood is ground zero for white supremacist imagery, and Will Smith stood on one of it's biggest platforms and acted in a way that contradicted years of white supremacist propaganda. There are many layers to this controversy, why it was controversial, and why he is being punished. I'm not saying that what Will did was right, because I don't think you should ever put your hands on someone unless they put their hands on you. My point is that there are themes that are playing out in response to this controversy that should not be ignored, and should be examined.
I respect your view but Jada is not the avatar for black female plight that you think she is :scusthov:. Whatever unfavorable opinion people hold of her is 99% because of her stupid antics and not some broader bias against black women :dahell:.

overkill
they will most likely reverse this once it dies down 4-5 years from now, maybe sooner
came to say this, no one will care in 2 years, Will will do anger management, make money from that, make movies, make money front that, do some interviews and come back to host the event. they will have an entire road map laid out

The Deep State

He’s not entirely wrong. Having basically the #1 guy white america accepted just doing something that foul isn’t gonna resonate well. Mind you these actors are the ones crawling over glass to get these roles. Of course it’s going to backfire.

You focused on the defending black women theme.... But how is slapping another black man going against years of White supremacist propaganda?
