The NFL is jumping the shark with this Chiefs sh*t every single season :unimpressed:

NBA >>>
Monken and Harbaugh not running the ball last year :pacspit:

Tennessee not trading Henry to the ravens only to let him walk in free agency and he signed there anyway :pacspit:

Andrews dropping the 2 point conversion to lose the game after the fumble the drive before :snoop:

Yeah I think people are missing the "parity" point. In the NFL, unless you're like the Browns, Raiders, or Jets you honestly feel like your team can compete... if not now, in the near future. If you have a terrible season, the draft offers you a chance at drafting a player who can help turn things around. The lack of guaranteed contracts means if a player is a dud, you can always move on. SWIFTLY. In the NBA, you can be a fan of a team with an All NBA player and know that your team will never have a shot at the title. Jalen Brunson was All NBA second team last year and even with the improved roster, nobody expects the Knicks to even make the championship game.

:mjlol:

What competing are they doing?

We've clearly seen certain levels appear in the league, every year, especially in the AFC

Chiefs
Bills/Ravens/Bengals

everybody else

NFC in the same time period has been

Eagles/49ers/Rams/Bucs with Brady

Packers with Rodgers ... replaced by Detroit

everybody else

NBA has never benefited from parity to begin with:francis: it thrives off historic dynasties with all time greats that run it up on everyone else.

NFL has the sweet spot where it can be both. Yeah Pats were dominant in the conference but they still lost super bowls and sometimes didn’t even make it in. Chiefs are in uncharted territory if they 3 peat so we’ll see how that plays out

But it’s not actually parity, it’s hope.

Fans of bad teams being able to convince themselves that they’re one good offseason away from being contenders doesn’t mean the league has parity, it’s means there’s a lot of delusional NFL fans walking around.

The Chiefs have won 8 straight division titles, made 7 straight AFC title games, 5 of the last 6 Super Bowls and gunning for their 3rd straight title. Just because Bills & Ravens fans can delude themselves into thinking that they have a chance doesn’t mean that parity exists.

The NFL can sell hope like no other league but at the end of the day the day gotta end. The results matter

Thank you, I mentioned this in another thread bytching about the NBA. Him and Peyton combined for 11 SBs in those 15 years...winning 7. AFC and in turn the league went through these two for the last decade and a half and no one ever bytched about parity or competitive balance or predictability. No one (especially NFL fans) shat on the NFL over it. They just worked themselves into a frenzy looking forward to Manning/Brady Pt 107.
Update:

14 straight AFC chip games with Brady and/or Mahomes. 9 of the last 11 SBs with one or both. 7 wins with another possible in 2 weeks.

Meanwhile the NBA has had 5 different champions in the last 5 years.

Funny...I aint heard much about parity in a while :jbhmm:

Since 2001 the only afc title game to not have Ben, Brady, Pat, or Peyton was 2002, and 2005 & 2009 were the only 2 in that span to not have 2 of the 4.

Fair. But that hope is what keeps people watching. I guess the NBA doesn’t need parity but a reason for folks to watch the regular season and hope for any of the teams not in the top 3.

Problem is a best of 7 series makes upsets a lot less likely to happen. A lot easier to feel like you have a chance when you only have to beat a team once instead of 4 times
