SMF and LAX to VA and NC

There's been a different champion 7 straight years in the NBA. Much more parity in the NBA than the NFL today. Even in that time span, you've also had the Cavs, Heat, Suns, Mavs all make The Finals. So in 7 years, 6 different champions, and 10 different teams have made the championship round...

That's a clean ⅓ of The League that has had a shot at the title in the NBA. Conversely, for the NFL:

2024, ?
2023, Chiefs
2022, Chiefs
2021, Rams
2020, Bucs
2019, Chiefs
2018, Pats

4 champions since '18, compared to 6 for NBA. Teams who have also made the Super Bowl: 49ers and Bengals. So it's been the same 7 teams in the NFL making the Super Bowl since 2018, 22% of the teams in The League, compared to 33% of the NBA's teams making The Finals...

Kansas City Chiefs
Philadelphia Eagles
San Francisco 49ers
Los Angeles Rams
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Cincinnati Bengals
New England Patriots

NBA has actually turned into the parity league...

It's crazy because normally games with more players in it have more chance to have a parity than something like basketball where one or two players can greatly affect the outcome of the game...

And yet NBA right now has more parity than NFL.

Difference between the NFL and NBA is that even the defending champs (KC) feel "beatable." Celtics have their ups and downs, but I'm not sure anyone is going to beat them in a 7-game series come spring.

When a team is dominant in hoops, there's an air of invincibility since there are fewer variables that can impact the game. You also have 7-games to prove who the better team is.....and usually the best team wins.

Single elimination means you're more likely to have some fukkery.....unless the league puts their thumb on the scale. If neither team is getting flagged too much, the NFL is "letting em play." When you see teams getting called for holding every time they get some momentum...that's the NFL getting up to fukkery. It's the equivalent of superstar calls except you can call a legit penalty every play.

The good teams OL hold a ton but the league let's them do it.

You guys are right, and now people complain about the play quality. It is justified but in a parity league, everything is the same.

The NBA can't win.

It’s pointless to have these talks just enjoy the game. As I’ve said before NFL people are cult like.

Agreed they will just shift to another poly to get at the NBA. Its just a shame the nba media buy into this idea of lack of NBA parity by tending to push the idea of how "predictable" and "boring" the league is.

Yeah I think people are missing the "parity" point. In the NFL, unless you're like the Browns, Raiders, or Jets you honestly feel like your team can compete... if not now, in the near future. If you have a terrible season, the draft offers you a chance at drafting a player who can help turn things around. The lack of guaranteed contracts means if a player is a dud, you can always move on. SWIFTLY. In the NBA, you can be a fan of a team with an All NBA player and know that your team will never have a shot at the title. Jalen Brunson was All NBA second team last year and even with the improved roster, nobody expects the Knicks to even make the championship game.

:ohhh:

Let’s not talk about the Brady/manning years or the cowboys/bills years…
Brady/Mahomes in 8 of the last 10 Super Bowls.:laff:
From 2001 onward the AFC quarterback in the Super Bowl has been as follows:

Brady, Gannon, Brady, Brady, Big Ben, Manning, Brady, Big Ben, Manning, Big Ben, Brady, Flacco, Manning, Brady, Manning, Brady, Brady, Brady, Mahomes, Mahomes, Burrow, Mahomes, Mahomes, Mahomes

4 guys have combined for 21 of the last 24 Super Bowl trips for the afc champion.
