Players are never going to agree to franchise tags

Maybe the owners should accept that players can have free will to go wherever the fukk they want to go and get over it. There's not a single owner in basketball that wouldn't have welcomed Durant to their team, regardless of who else was on the squad

Get rid of the max contract and call it a fukking day.

Lockouts always win breh. Its just last lockout, the NBA overlooked the revenue jump. That wont happen again

LMAO.. funny

I made a thread on this. Its going to happen.

No way the NBA will allow OKC to go from a contending team to barely a playoff team in 1 year. Hell, they ARE going to lose 2 Franchise players in 2 years and possibly NO compensation.

They're going to trade Westbrook before the end of this season
Drafting well isn't light years ahead. Other orgs do that as well.

Having good talent isn't light years ahead. Other orgs have that too.

Players willing to make a concerted effort to recruit someone is what's different
If drafting well was so easy more than 3 teams would be able to do it. As far as the players recruiting Durant, we sent 4 guy there, why didn't OKC, Miami, Boston, LAC and SA do the same?

If it was that deep we wouldn't have max contracts, period. If you got back to the old Bird rules, guys like Bron and KD would never dream of leaving (if owners were willing to spend that is). :mjlol: at a franchise tag. These owners are grown ass men that have been successful in business. Do better, period. Stop trying to give them safety nets to protect them from their own shortcomings (although in OKCs case they clearly did their job and it was the players that fell short). That said, I really don't think the owners care like that. I believe it was Amin that said the the owners chose cost certainty over everything else. Everybody is slotted and you don't have to think or worry about anybody rocking the boat in terms of salary. I highly doubt owners truly give a fukk about this, with the record profits that are being made right now not to mention the interest generated by stuff like this.

fukk Silver.

Brothers getting paid and being able to go wherever the hell they want to without feeling pressure to "stay" where their at and languish under some bullshyt notion of "loyalty". I'm all for it

Less parity is bad for the sport. Im not watching basketball next seaso.. What's the point? The whole point of the salary cap is go prevent situations like Durant going to Golden State.

Personally i share the sentiment of Silver, becuase it dilutes the product entirely.

As someone who can separate my fandom for my team, and be someone who is just a fan of pro basketball, superteams prevent me from watching lesser talented teams due to the fact that they lost there superstar to a mega-market and/or are constantly getting blown out.

Spread out talent throughout all the teams is better for fans and the league. Period. No arguing that point. For the players not so much but fukk em.

No, tell the players, coaches, and scouting department on OTHER teams to step it up as well as the owners and GM's.

GWS generally is an organic team and they didnt do ANYTHING out of the ordinary to make themselves a title contender why can't other teams do the same?

When did you start watching basketball?

The cap would have prevented it if you didn't have these silly max slots that limit how much a top player can make and thusly make money less of an issue.

While I agree that other teams should do better the answer to your question is obvious...Steph Currys don't come along every year. Draymonds don't come along in the 2nd round every year. This ain't he NFL where it's all about stock piling talent and scheme. In the NBA you gotta have special players at the top if you wanna win. Only way for most teams to get those players is through the draft. And for the most part you gotta be lucky to be in the right spot in the right year. For example, as great as SA's FO has been over the last 2 decades if they get the number 2 pick in 97 I highly doubt they win one chip let alone the 5 they got.

It could've been prevented if guys like Durant, Curry, Klay & Draymond's contracts were limited by an arbitrary max percentage slot.

And for all the talk that parity in the NBA is dead. 6 teams have won a title in the last 7 seasons. The NBA hasn't had a stretch like this in nearly 40 years

I watch casually and occasionally and always tune in playoff time. I'm not paying attention at all next year.
