The owners (specifically ones like Ted Leonsis) who pushed for the current system need to realize you can't keep the same incompetent GMs employed if you want to compete for a championhip

Ernie Grunfeld has been the Wizards GM since 2003. The Wizards have the 3rd worst record in the NBA in that span. Yet, he's still employed.

Lacob cleaned house, got a new GM in Bob Meyers and in 4 years was able to build a title contender.

THAT'S CALLED BEING COMPETENT AND TALENTED.

There's so many guys out there who can do a better job than the current executives out there.

The players shouldn't cave in the next lockout. I remember in 2014 there was a memo about guys saving their money to prepare... they better get on it.

I don't why people are so worked up about this to the point where they say they'll no longer watch basketball.. especially directing that hate toward the Warriors. I must have sat through 20 seasons, knowing my team wasn't gonna be shyt, and that the same few teams were going to rule the league. Didn't stop me from watching.

It all started with the Heat. They were the first "unapproved" squad to take over the league. All of a sudden people that had either been cheering for the Lakers from the 2000s and Bulls from the 90s or at the very least tolerating them, wanted parity and couldn't stand knowing who would be in the Finals before the season even started. In short, a lot of folks are spoiled brats and resistant to change.

nikka aint i just say i thought id never utter those words. But this superteam shyt is for the birds man. i was raise to be a leader of men and never fold under failure. Whats the point of success if you have other people be the reason for it.
no one, especially sports, is successful alone...

LMAO at the idea of Silver not liking the kd signing :mjlol:

ok lets take a look at previous 30 god damn years
celtics and lakers super team rivalry
bulls 90s domination
kobe and shaq lakers super team
miami big 3 super team

shyt, fans are still going to buy tickets to go to the games as long as they look like a playoff team, fans are still going to buy merchandise. Meanwhile silver is going to keep on milking that cash cow of lebron and the warriors until nothing left.

This is another level you have a 73 win team adding the 2nd best player in the league after that player had a 3-1 lead against that team and was a legendary Klay shooting performance away from beating them and maybe winning a title

So not only is a team that almost won getting better but one of the only teams that could compete with them just got weaker

Aside from massive injuries this is gonna be the least competitive nba season ever

Let's be honest

The max was created by the owners to save their gm's from themselves

All teams have the opportunity to compete, but you can't stop a player from leaving when he's allowed to.

OKC at one point had KD/Russ/Harden/Ibaka. They didn't want to pay Harden so they shipped him off, they had injury problems that kept them from advancing the next 2-3 years. KD had a chance to leave, he did. Russ will probably do the same.

Even if KD didn't go to OKC, the other teams he looked at, outside of Boston, he would've joined "elite" players.

I'm not sure how you can stop that.

Choose Kendrick Perkins over James Harden then complain about your small market team not being able to compete brehs.
