None of them would ever drop out of the draft

This year there will be way more Americans.

The International system is just different Their leagues are tiered and they start kids up the way we would in high school. Some kids declare just to get out of their situations though, because they do players dirty sometimes.

Also with the international game it is cyclical. They were pumping out great players in the late 90s and early 2000s. Then for almost 10 years they didn't produce shyt and now the cycle has started again.

But in the end the americans will always produce more players in the draft (who actually play in the nba over a 10 year period). For as many folks overseas that play basketball they just don't have the funds, genetics and pool of people that america has when it comes to who is playing in the NBA.

Also we can't compare a american kid to some euro wno has been playing professional since he was 14 and who basically only went to high school to learn how to play basketball.

The Traps of Unified Korea
HS players getting drafted did nothing to harm the league. As posted in this thread, the numbers support it. I can't think of anyone in the NBA now who would have been a HS pick who is flopping other than maybe Maker, and his stock was way down by the end of his senior year anyway and Simmons hasn't played yet.

Colleges don't develop players because they're just going to leave after one season anyways, no point in wasting their time.

The players who do stay are developed, but not to the extent they would be without the one and done rule.

True but this isn't gonna resolve the parity issue. Silver and the union just throwing shyt up against the wall.

Back to the high school kids going straight to the nba and being question marks or trash for 3 years before a team has to decide whether or not to pay them 90+ mil :martin:

If I ran the nba I'd Make them stay in school 2 years minimum no more eddy curry, kwame brown, sebestian telfair, leon smith bum ass players.
More straight from prep players were in the playoffs this year then four or three year college players
Also there is no proof less players from high school hat get drafted are that much worse of a risk then college players

1 and done has backfired lately, the wings are really struggling for the first few years.

I NEVER SAID THE SYSTEM WAS ANYWHERE NEAR PERFECT.

JUST STATED 1 AND DONE
HAS PREVENTED THEM FROM MAKING EVEN MORE MISTAKES
THAN THEY ALREADY MAKE.

You're making it seem like the players are to blame. It is the GM's job to evaluate talent but instead they punish players for their own incompetence.

That's why I feel they should let the top HS prospects test the waters just as they do college players.

Yeah, the NBA also incentivizes losing.

Yeah but all American sports do. America is built on capitalism but american sports is based on socialism.

In american sports a team that is bad is awarded with a high draft pick and even an easier schedule like in the NFL.

In euro for example your team performing poorly can get kicked out of a league.

It is very interesting how a countries culture can be one way but their sports can be another way.

That's the thing though, it's what everyone is doing. People, from a general/media/fan perspective, don't want to hold these general managers and scouts accountable at all, and just blame the players for everything. Guess what? Even if you force the players to be 22 before they come into the league, the same organizations and general managers are going to be fukking up the talent evaluations.

My Pops Forever RIP
So you must have forgotten Exum coming to the nba fresh out of high school in Australia.

He was a couple of weeks shy of 19 when he was picked. The rules use how old you would be in comparison to that graduating class here, thus why it's an age limit.

It's also why international players are automatically eligible at a certain age.
