How do you know that 360 deals aren't as prevalent in other genres
These labels build a (no talent having) pop artist from scratch, do you think they are doing it for free?
Rappers (and rock artists) are usually the only cats who can blow up before their first album without a smash single and shyt. Country too but they're in their own little world.

lol Adele is lucky to take home 30% of what she makes. Shes manufactured and thats why you never see her in the media.
I said no talent having so no, I was obviously not talking about those two. Adele was signed to one of the most prominent indie labels out and was already a name before she took it one step further. I'm talking about all the manufactured pop artist that don't move major units but move around like they are Mariah Carey like Selena Gomez, Demi Lovato, Grande, Rihanna and what ever their names are.
Taylor and Adele are two exceptions in their respective genres, just like you can't generalize rap by looking at Jay-z or Drake. Cole was completely unknown before his deal so him getting that major investment without a 360 would be impossible.
It's possible to get signed if you have leverage or if you sign to an indie connected to the majors and get major distribution when you get on like Macklamore.
