I wouldn't place Nas in the same category as Rakim either. Rakim is the father of emceeing as we know it. Nas is a great rapper from another era, perhaps greater.

Imo it's just hiphop bars of the past 30 years from 3 rappers labeled as he dopest by their peers. Every rapper out names Drake as their favorite rapper, along with Kendrick and Cole. They might've had K. or Cole but seeing how Drake already has a deal with them it was probably an easy choice.

And I believe that the youth of the 90s fukked with anything that was catchy as well or Kriss Kross wouldn't outsell Nas, Mark Wahlberg would not be a rapper, Puff Daddy would not be one of the biggest rappers, Hammer would not move more than Rakim, Krs and Ice Cube has done in their careers together.
