i've read through this entire thread and see validity in both perspectives but the thing i find interesting is "your sides" belief that most slaves just sat around twiddling their thumbs like it some some starkly black or white issue to either revolt or accept their lot in life (no pun intended)

there are so many variables that don't appear to be accounted for....there are plenty of instances that we'll never even know about where individuals and/or groups of slaves made attempts at revolts...but as with any systematic and long term institutions of oppression/slavery...it takes a great deal of time to "reverse" the negative effects and see results...i do agree that there was sure to be plenty of bytch-assedness from certain slaves during the duration of american slavery but the counter argument is how is that any different than any other period in history where one group exerts it's dominance over another....some people are sell outs...its not an excuse...it's a reality...snitches and conformist have no color/race....also, it think its important to remember that eventually enough blood was shed and enough stood up to progress us all the way to today...right now where we are black in american and routinely enjoy liberties no black slave would have ever even imagined or thought possible

We weren't bytch made at all. It's widely regarded and accepted by historians that even without guns, if the West African kingdoms were united like they were only a hundred or so years before the mass enslavement, there would be no chance for the slavers.

Not to mention we didn't all go to the new world, my ancestors got lucky and fought to the last man every time with guns untill the 1900's when they finally took a historic L when the British did the first ever air raid.
