i can't even fathom the horrors they endured and witnessed
but for the life of me, i'll never understand why slaves didn't rise up in areas where they damn outnumbered the cacs. this is why white folks are constantly on edge. they know they did us dirty, and they're shocked we haven't united and marched in their communities with guns & pitchforks.
But it's like what some of the previous posters were stating, you have a bunch of already captured Africans in Africa, so the fighting skills are meh at best. Then you cram them into a boat and force them to roll around in their own sick and filth. You're talking about months on a slave ship with no where to go but over board for freedom. Then you take them to the islands where they went through "seasoning" in which they were physically and mentally broken down in order to be ready to pick cotton in the southern sun all damn day for free. Fear and trauma are great equalizers, one man with a gun had an entire movie theatre running for their lives. They didn't decide as a collective to bum rush dude and take his gun.
What I saying is that self preservation for most people is their first instinct. In a fight or flight situation, most people will choose flight.
Now lets go back to slave analogy, its akin to being kidnapped, where you hear stories about the victim being held hostage for so long that it becomes their new normal and the kidnapper can leave them by themselves and the victims wont run away. But then there are some that are like "fukk this, I'm out" and escape.
