Worst thing about slavery is that black people worked hard jobs without being paid while it freed the white man to pursue science, banking, school, medicine and invent everything that needs one's mind to be free from hard labour and worrying about feeding their stomach. So they got a chance to get ahead in literally every field. Not only that, they have been ahead even today. Black the people were free'd, to survive they still had to work hard labour for very little because they did not own anything or have any wealth. Today the black people are considered less smart for 'not inventing' anything, not discovering modern things, history just says they worked very hard labor and that's all they are good for. We all know it's not true.
It bothers me because the black man is smart as hell, but he has been kept on survival mode for conturies while the white man is busy 'researching and inventing spaceships for a better future'. The blueprint to keep blacks poor and inferior was laid a long time ago. I really hope to see a better tomorrow for all of us.

That’s still 10-20 years worth of people helped vs a one time payment only to those who qualify at the time of dispersal.
Reparations isn’t just about slavery, it’s about systemic oppression that happened for centuries, we need systemic benefits to dig ourselves out of that. This “pay me” attitude is some selfish boomer shyt that won’t benefit anyone to come behind you

I'd take the tax free for 20 yrs over the direct payments. Throw in free tuition at the school of choice and I'm set.

My absolute minimum would be $300k but I’m voting for $500k which is realistic. 50k per year over a 10yr period.
Starting point should be a million and then we can negotiate down.

See you're thinking long term. A lot of people that want the money are only thinking of the present. They'll burn through that money and leave those that come behind in the same situation they were in before they got the money

300k per FBA would be lineage changing. for a family of 4 that's like $1.2 million. Lots of black Americans could finally become homeowners or finally have real money to put into a business or collectively invest in businesses.

The dollar has lost value, land appreciates, you can sell the 40 acres and your descendants can benefit as well
Your descendants may not benefit from direct cash the way the economy is now
