If Africa handles its population boom correctly, the economies of several countries could surge and begin the process of developing into first world nations. The same way China and to a lesser extent, India and Brazil are becoming players on the global stage. There's a very good chance that a couple decades from now Ethiopia, Tanzania and the DRC will be joining that group; Nigeria alot sooner. According to you, this doesn't matter though 
Africa is the last continent to globalize. It will have it's 5-10 years of prosperity, as its nations builds up their middle class, and then they will fall into economic stagnation like the rest of the developed world.
Overpopulation is a myth. Over consumption is the issue. There is more than enough food to feed the world if people were responsible.
