She mixed, but yeah her da hails from the Ivory Coast. Their flag is the Irish one back to front - only right they rocked up here to Ireland.:myman:

We are only spending three days in IV and some of that time will be business - she works with an African womens group, based in Dublin, that are anti FGM. So she wants to touch base with some likeminded contacts there.

We hitting Naija, my mothership, and spending a week in Mauritius too. Really looking forward to it now - the light at the end of the tunnel.

Havent been home in a while, cant wait to see my people. Il have my ear to the ground about upcoming business ventures in the area - no doubt about that.:steviej:

But whats really exciting me is Mauritius. It looks an amazing island. Great people, Mauritians. We have a load of them here in Dublin. Great people - you go to a bar with them and you have to argue with them to let you buy them a round back for the five they got you in. Hospitable as f*ck.

Its a place with an awful lot of potential. A multilingual, young and well educated workforce that is now attracting some inward multinational investment. Them CEOs love their tropical get-a-ways. Could be a nice place to invest.

My boy says that the government corruption is rapidly declining and if they get a half decent government - the country could boom, financially.:myman:

Might be worth you checking out.

dap for not saying 'bytch' throughout your whole story. Everyone on the coli seems to love that word even when telling a story which involves their girlfriend, wife, or mother.

don't like how they are branding it Africa's big apple though. let's carve out our own identity.
@Mountain Wolf @Primetime @IrishBrother :lupe:

Cities do shyt like this all of the time. The purpose is to draw in western investors and tourists, so referring to the most known mega city is good marketing. If they were marketing it to China it would have been branded Africa's Shanghai. To the Japs, Africa's Tokyo.

:salute: to this thread.

but id really like a person to speak on first-hand nonbiased experience, comparing life there, to a major U.S. city. Cause I too can take professional pics of 5th ave, Park ave, european style townhomes in the West Village and beautifully restored brownstones in Fort Greene, Brooklyn. However I can attest that living daily in New York City is nothing like how it seems in the pics, and its nowhere near as clean, heavenly, and vibrant as it looks in professionally edited pics.

Cause if Africa is really like how it looks in these pics its :ohhh: and quite frankly pisses me off:mad: These are world class cities. And I confess that i personally thought the average life in africa (not named south africa) is like this.

I'm here on business.

I think it's an overall net positive for Zambia without a doubt. It needs the infrastructure and the Chinese provide an alternative and up the ante for Western bidders on contracts here.

Tech wise, Zambia's pretty well connected. I get 3G service everywhere and although internet is relatively slow compared to home, that should change soon as well. Mobile penetration is huge, every single person has a cell phone literally, no matter what class, to the point that making financial transfers through mobile is popular.
