Not Technically a "Doctor"
I just started college and I'm already involved in the Black Unity Union For Unity Among Black People Of Color.

And we have a LIST OF DEMANDS:

1. All low-paying majors must be turned into high-paying majors IMMEDIATELY

2. We DEMAND a 100% reduction in white students and faculty RIGHT NOW

3. Oppressive hetero-normative numbers such as 4 through 10 must be ABOLISHED, which is why this list of demands is so short

3b. The university president must step down OR ELSEwe will yell on campus for a bit

The Engineering majors (Civil, Mechanical, Biomedical, Chemical, Computer), as well as Mathematics and Physics.
Majoring in Finance and Economics are also traditionally higher-paying.
A lot less Black students double-major or choose rigorous majors.
And there's also this silly idea that you have to major in something to be knowledgeable in it, you can focus on social issues heavily and study them, as well as sociology and political theory without majoring in it.
A lot more Black students also go to less- known, and less rigorous schools, and that only adds to it.
Remember that thread about how many Black kids go to shyt like Devry?

Love that people think this, yet look at where we are as a world.

and LOL @ the idea of low paying major. Some majors limit you to doing what the major is, others open up a ton of doors if you're willing to follow the knowledge and take it to the next level and the next level. Do what you are passionate about and take it through to at least the masters level. Figure out exactly what you want to do and make good grades at it.

One reason is that we aren't exposed to a lot of different career options before we head to college. I originally went to college for computer science, hated that shyt and switched to industrial engineering. I had never heard of industrial engineering before I went to GT. Even now I run into people with majors I didn't know existed, like packaging engineering. Them dudes get paid and it's not a lot of people in that field either.

This is very true mixed with the inability of a lot of black parents to offer guidance on what majors to choose. Most black children are now probably second generation college if their lucky...most black parents are just happy to have their kids in college I don't think the choose of major and the connection to income is really something that's thought of...I think the assumption is that he/she went to college so he/she is going to get a good job

Those issues are closer to our hearts.
and a lot of those majors will result in government jobs. the government jobs are usually based on testing to get in, testing to move up. which is by far the fairest setup black people have. now of course white folks find a way around the rules. but the basic rules are there to limit that white man nepotism nonsense.

I mean honestly what isn't a low paying college major?

Does it even matter when AA's are paid less than their white peers?
A job has lost its purpose. Everyone advocating these super genius professions when worker unions no longer exist. On top of lack of group economics.

Doing something that you love with a successful entrepreneurial mindset > doing some shyt that will drive people insane and with no job security.

The STEM worker bees (not even bosses) are the only ones who eat this silly shyt up :heh:
