You have a lot of people that work and go to school. Or go to school online. It's almost impossible to major in stem and hold down a fulltime job. You cant take biology online because of the lab requirements.

Accounting is probably the easiest major in campus and it pays 80-100k after only two years in the big 4. Making money is very easy in America.

Imagine being smart enough to become a chemical engineer yet dumb enough to not understand economics :skip:

That's how Ben Carson and Ron Paul gets in politics. No clue on human behavior and their needs. And no rights whatsoever.

These STEM workers are just pawns.

When i was in school Communications was the default black major at my university. All the blacks in my program were either African or Caribbean. I think the majors we pick are greatly influenced by the experiences and exposures we have growing up. So many blacks probably go into social work because so many of us grow up in dysfunctional environments and we want to address those issues in our community as adults. That's nice and all but social workers are out here struggling. Same with education and communication majors. The other elephant in the room is the fact a lot of us are simply not academically prepared to handle rigorous math and engineering focused majors straight out of inner city high schools. I graduated 4th in my high school taking all AP courses and generally went to "good schools" growing up relative to local options and i struggled with basic shyt like boolean algebra courses and stat II in college.

BBA in Marketing
MBA in Healthcare Management

Going back to clean up on a BBA in Accounting so I can sit for the CPA and have that on my record. Just nine classes to take. I'm an assistant controller so I'm already on the accounting wave. I just need the paperwork to back my experience. Also, accounting is easy. There is just a lot to know. If you can do math, you can do accounting.

Those issues are closer to our hearts.

This.

And another thing to take into account is that a lot of the higher paying careers often require Masters, Doctorates or PHD's when they don't require those they are heavy in the math / advanced science fields in which AA and Latino students have traditionally fell behind in. Unless you have a full ride to college, which most don't, all these things require $$$$ (especially if you turn into a 6 year senior cause you failed some hard ass math class)

So for me it turned into do I pay the $1xx,xxx figures it takes to become a lawyer or pay half of that and become a social worker, end of the day I chose the latter and have until now thank God no trouble finding jobs

Can't say the same for a lot of people that graduated with me, but the reason for that is a whole different discussion, but I know for fact many of them chose social services or the "arts " because that's what they could afford

My boy switched from engineering to econ because his scholarship was only 4 years and he would need 5.
