But as a Nigerian, clowning African Americans for their "slave names" is pretty dumb. Plenty Africans have adopted Christian names and threw their traditional names in the bushes even they "know who they are". The White Man tricked us all. But dude was asking for it (if this story is even true)...
But I have always been curious why African Americans, who are culturally devout Christians have largely chosen to drop their Christian first names but kept the "slave master" last names. I wonder if anybody has ever researched that...
No no no. That's not the same thing. Most nikkas are walking around with names like Johnson, Jackson, Jefferson or some shyt. The only real meaning behind it is the legacy of Slavery.
Nigerians on the other hand changed their names to names having to do with their Christian or Muslim religion.That has a deep meaning to them and it's not just a name inherited by a man that owned /raped their ancestor.
Long story short.
