haitians been saying nikka ... especially lil nikka

ti neg
I lived with Haitians in Montreal and everybody used "neg", even white people that wanted to be down. It rly doesnt have the same significance as the N word or racial implication for them. I have wondered at times if the word came from "negre"(n word in french) tho.

I'll admit it. I've been saying the word :"nikka:" alot more since I moved to New York and have been hanging around alot more black and spanish folks. Its like common terminology over here.

I actually have no problem with it. My mental is strong enough to no I'm not a nikka. Even though I'm a first gen Nigerian/West Indian America, my identity as an american was shaped by Black American culture (hip-hop especially) and American culture in general. I can't stand black folks overusage of the term, or how ":accepted" it is and I know that it's not different from the other spelling of it..but perhaps this is my ignorance coming to light.

I wish we could call each other brother and sister though. We all share the same roots as humans. I embrace those who embrace me with open arms.

Any group who embraces a racial slur that was made to dehumanize them is mentally sick but instead of adressing that you rather attack me who understands the importance of self idenitity.

fukk outta here.
So you really actually think using nikka has some kind of negative subconscious effect on our minds? :heh:

even though you don't personally use the word nikka, you're still a part of the group that does.

I do agree that we as Black people are mentally sick in America and around the world and it's a direct result of white supremacy and it's war on non-white people.

lining up Black people who aren't cognizant of our collective situation will do nothing more than leave a large amount of Black people dead which will put us in an even more vulnerable position than we're already in.

I don't have the answers but we need to figure out how to make Black people understand their situation fully.

But I just dont understand how using the word nikka affects us negatively as a people. Thats kinda silly to tryna pinpoint our issues to that IMO. Yall think successful black ppl dont use nikka behind closed doors?

Even with all of our issues and problems, I've always considered African-American culture to be so attractive and unique. It amazes me (especially living here in NY) how big hip-hop culture is. And how influential we are...even though sometimes we don't think so.

My thing was, even though I am African/West Indian, being here in America, I've always related and identified with the black experience as a black person. For a while, I felt a disconnect to AAs, that went now that I'm older.

Sometimes I think to myself, I could of been born anywhere else, but I'm here.

Regardless, African Americans have displayed so much resilliency and have managed to make lemonade out of lemons in so many ways. It's always inspiring.

Yeh I kinda figured it came from that since Haitians just remove "r's" from words but im jus sayin it doesnt have the same racial implication to them, at least not anymore. Anyone got a pass with it where im from. Dont kno if its like that as well in actual Haiti tho.

Yes.

When I hear the word nikka I think of a lazy no good bum with no identity or self respect standards or direction in life.

I wouldn't hire, do business, or trust the judgment of any professional black person who consistently uses that word.

I don't have confidence in a Black person who calls themselves a nikka.
If you think about it would you trust a person to do your taxes or be your accountant who calls themselves nikka? No.I believe this is why the confidence level in black people is low when it comes to business mainly due to the standards being so low.
So you really actually think using nikka has some kind of negative subconscious effect on our minds? :heh:

Comparing the use of the N word to cocaine is kind of a far stretch dont u think, lol? Aint shyt nikkas aint Aint shyt nikkas cause they use nikka, the reasons are deeper and more complex than that. Its kind of a trivial issue IMO, at least to when pertaining to us.
