I might be on to something:ehh:. For those of you unfamiliar with the Miracle Morning; It's a book by Hal Elrod that speaks of the importance of waking up early and doing daily self improvement rituals before starting your day. Also, if you're a wage slave with higher ambitions, you need to be sure to work on YOUR dreams first. Not after a long days work and a hectic commute but first thing in the morning when your mind is fresh. That's when you're prime for creativity. One of the biggest take aways from the book is, "Your level of success seldom exceed your level of self development".

Since I have such a difficult time falling asleep I've averaged about 4.5 hours of sleep per night in the last week. But I've also had more energy than I've had in a long time.

My routine is supposed to start at 4AM but literally every morning I've been so excited to get started my body has been waking up at 3. Here's how my routine goes.

3-4AM Wake up. Family silently in dream land :ahh:. Drink some water first. The grogginess we feel in the morning is partly due to dehydration.

10 min of meditation/ silent refection.
10 min exercise- push ups/sit ups and yoga stretches.
10 min reading a book
10 min affirmations/visualizations. Yes I have a vision board
10 min of journaling. Daily goals, long term goals, ideas for my business.

Then after that I either work on my business or Udemy. I've completed a HTML/CSS course now I'm moving on to Python and Blender. I hired a guy on upwork to help me but it didn't work out so I'm learning to do things myself.

TL;Dr: A solid routine might be my missing link. I have accomplished more this week than I have in the last couple of months, pulling overnighters some nights. I have a hard time sticking to shyt so this thread is going to be my accountability mechanism. It's kind of new agey but I just need something that works. I know for a fact the commas are coming but it's up to me to develop into the person I need to be too attract it.

That shyt is facts though. For the last couple of years I've written a page full of daily goals at night and then the next day I try to complete them (I fill up the whole notebook page so it's extremely rare for me to get through everything). I've 1000% found that it's best to do the most important or hardest things first thing in the morning because that's when you have the most willpower. If you wait to do the important stuff until later it's unlikely they get done.

And I DEFINITELY agree with people who have day jobs needing to build on their shyt BEFORE they go to work, because trying to do everything after work usually won't work unless you have very good willpower, because you're tired after work and for those who hate their jobs you're usually too mentally beaten down and you just want to chill or go to sleep or do something entertaining that isn't exactly going to progress your life.

:krs: So crazy you to just posted this. I'm not familiar with the book, but I was working on setting out a similar plan already. Limit my sleep and get up earlier to put more energy into my goals. Already started my vision board and short term writing goals. Once I get home from work, I've definitely given a good portion of my mental energy to my job then I'm left giving my goals the left overs. Not feeling it at all. Going to pick up that book. Props to you!

You shouldn't limit your sleep breh (trust me on this) but you should probably go to sleep earlier and then wake up early. Assuming your job/life situation allows you to do that of course.

I have the book but after about a week of getting up early I hear the alarm an I'm :snooze:

I just have a hard time getting up.

The concept is sound though. I aint worth shyt after 5pm, at least mentally.

Go re-read chapter 5. Put the alarm clock/phone across the room. I keep mine in another room so I'm forced to get up to turn it off. After I drink a cup of water I'm up. The mere fact that I am hitting ALL of my daily goals before the rest of the world even gets out of bed is a powerful motivator. I've tried 3D rendering software several times but never could fully grasp it but just in the last few days I've made some serious progress. When you're consistent momentum builds. But you have to have a purpose, a drive. An extra hour or two of unconscious sleep that in reality feels more like one or two minutes can't compare to the feeling of actually moving forward in the direction of your dreams.

Good post.

I'm going through a HTML/CSS course on Codecademy right now.

Self improvement "guru" Tim Ferris calls this the Miracle Ritual.

And I think like 80% of the successful people he has interviewed for his popular podcast over the last 2 years have some type of morning routine they do.

The vast majority of them also meditate.

I definitely feel you. I'm not speaking on doing anything too drastic. Will try hitting the bed earlier. I'm typically off work at a decent time every day unless a major project is going on. Only part that sucks is I'm on call if anything goes down that can't be remotely fixed or worked around until the next day. At that point I have to head back in. Going to start my test run this week to see how things flow and adjust from there. I figure I can try an after work nap if need be as well. We'll see.
