Seems like your trying to ignore what they've said in recent years simply because it doesn't suit your agenda.

Isn't that what you're doing? You and that other cat are accusing people of playing by rules that you apparently condemn but you're playing by the same rules.

theres no agenda. id put wilt number 8 on the all time list of guys to lace up the sneakers. hardly a slight to the man. i just take peoples opinions when they are expressed and the other party is alive to respond and refute those opinions over opinions they change up after someone passed
lol @ number 8, yeah theres an agenda. Kareem says Wilt is possibly the GOAT yet you have him number 8? OF COURSE your going to attempt to dismiss that lmfao

You're confusing me with someone else. I have yet to use the different era argument. My argument is the 11 ppg difference between the regular season and playoffs and Game 7 1969.

I hear you on the PPG difference. My opinion on that -- different from yours -- is that Wilt changed his game in the playoffs to face other complete composed teams. One man can't win a playoff series nor a championship with his point-per-game average. If you want to check the facts on that theory, examine how many great players won rings without other HOFers beside them also scoring. Wilt was at fault for not making him team better in some cases...for taking until his later career to trust and defer to teammates...but the same could be said for Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant...also among the greatest of all time.

Wilt also upped his rebounding and assist numbers late in his career to mesh with the better team he played on (Los Angeles). He averaged 22.9 rebounds in the same years his scoring dipped. That's another correlation-causation thing you're doing with scoring being the end-all for winning. That's also hard to prove but g'head and rock breh. I ain't mad atcha.

You see, I actually have an understanding why some negative quotes where thrown around in the past, it seems like you guys don't - you guys just want to use them as if they're concrete indicators of those guys opinions. Problem is, they're outdated, and out of context when you use them the way you guys did. As I've shown, by showing you guys what they think of Wilt in recent years. If you'd like I can show you the time period when Wilt used to give those guys needle which provoked them to react back then, the way they did. Wilt used to criticize Kareem about defense, rebounding, his age and that he should retire, etc. The quotes and negative reactions have backstory. You guys just don't seem to understand that.

And Bill Walton says that Kareem is the best basketball player ever. But that's just UCLA kinsmen talking. :rudy:

A better winner, which he was, where is Kareem wrong?
Better player doesn't mean better winner. Robert Horry and Steve Kerr were some of the winning-est players of all time. Lenny Wilkens, between player and coach years, was also one of the all-time 'winners'. Great individual players usually win, but they need their teams to do so consistently.

so kareem naturally thinks russell is the best player of all time, because as he states himself "the ring is the thing."

Bullshyt. You have about as much of an understanding of his criticism as we do. You can fill this page and the next three pages up with Wilt collages. The point remains that neither of us were there.

Sure that's why I run a Youtube channel dumping all this footage and shyt. I've got like 2 terrabytes of basketball media from the 1950's through to the 1970's plus modern quotes and interviews of the players who played from that generation all at my fingertips but I only know just as much as you do, and the others who don't collect and listen too / watch / read all that stuff. Right?

It's not that more possessions equals poor shooting, its just that shooting was overall horrible in the 60's, as we're the ball handling ability. Most of those guys couldn't dribble with 2 hands.

Watch a playoff game from this year and compare the defense to playoff game from the 60's. It's night and Day

As for oscar and Lebron, lebron would have the same advantages he had against that Competetion and lebron is a much better player then oscar was.

If any guard from today got sent to the 60s and tried to ball handle exactly as they did today they'd turn the ball over 20 times a game from carrying and palming violations. Back then your hand HAD to be on top of the ball when you dribbled or else it was a palming violation this is why their handle back then looks shaky as fukk. And about the shooting, i used to read Wilt articles where he talked about how he used to go to some arenas and it would be so cold inside that he could see his own breath, the floors being uneven as hell, ball being as hard as a brick etc. Things that are definitely gonna affect your shooting percentages,

bottom line comparing across eras is stupid
