Is FAMU going to be on ESPN or CBS every week though?
Going to Texas, cacs could care less about black non-athletes and they let you know about 2 to 3 times a semester. I remember being at Texas when we had 2.8% black students and you would still have cacs coming against initiatives that were trying to increase black enrollment such as just increasing marketing at predominantly black high schools...remember Texas does not even have affirmative action. You see cacs know that decreasing the overall black student population does not harm black athletic enrollment...it only impacts black non-athletes. I remember being at an open campus debate and telling cacs that if they are so against increasing black enrollment, maybe they should tell black athletes not to come here to make more room for white students...they were

and silence was among them.
These cacs are all about exploitation. Black athletes are nothing but gladiators for their own entertainment. Gladiators fought to the death, but if they survived, they were given good food, a nice bed, had their wounds taken care, received accolades, and were given women. Its no different in today's NCAA structure. Black non-athletes just made the environment a bit easier for them to come to but that is changing from a social perspective (think Earl Campbell at Texas). Remember all these schools such as Alabama and Texas took years to get black athletes on their teams after integrating black non-athlete students. There is really no need for the black non-athlete with the addition of black athletes in the eyes of many. Its the reason why so many states and schools are comfortable with eliminating affirmative action which never really worked for us anyway, but they will maintain legacy which is a form of white privilege...an unspoken affirmative action for whites.
When I was a freshman, BSA decided to have a meeting to connect with our brothers and sisters were athletes because there was a huge disconnect and only about 3 showed up, all track athletes. Men's basketball and football players are heavily isolated from black non-athletes and its by design. Black athletes are invited to white parties all the time. KA, a historically racist frat invites a few black football players to their parties regularly. This frat had a least one racially themed party a year. from blackface to old dixie themes.
Now, when some of us bring up the need to have HBCU moving into BCS conference its immediately shot down. We have been conditioned to accept the reality of white controlled exploitation of our gifts. In fact, not only have some of us accepted it, many of us actually prefer the system the way it is. People don't realize that we threw away the entire Negro League just so ONE black player could have a chance to play in MLB. I don't think people realize how stupid that is. We should have fought for integration these black owned teams into MLB instead. If they didn't want it...tell them to kick rocks. Do same with other sports. The ABA merged with the NBA...the AFL merged with the NFL. Everybody knows who made more money but the owners didn't have to give up their teams. So we have a history as a people of preferring to throw away what we have to be accepted by whites. That is economic suicide. Which is the reason why many on here prefer HBCUs to not get a piece of the pie in BCS conferences. Money from the lack of television contracts is a large part of the issues that HBCU programs face.
