After watching 5 mins of soccer at the gym I see why it'll never pop in America

It’s refreshing having countries like America, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand and Australia where football/soccer isn’t number one. It actually gives us football/soccer exhausted fatigued fans of the sport some rest. I have enjoyed the NBA more since 2015 than associated football.

Hopefully Baseball, Hockey and NFL can expand their influence worldwide and increased their audience. We have reached peak association football; no more please

I disagree with op.

The only issue I have with soccer is that:

You don't always see "the fruits of their labor". A team can dominate a game and have star scorers... and yet the game is 1-0.

In the NBA and NFL, the impact of star players is obviously noticeable. In soccer, a team can win 2-1 or 3-2, and it would feel more flukey if a star player got a goal.

As where in the NBA and the NFL, star players routinely show their value directly. Mahomes skill is readily apparent on his touchdown passes. Steph Currys skilld are readily appaeent when he scores

Cause it looks like anyone can do it.
Compared to other sports where there's an amazement factor whether it be the size, speed, athleticism, or difficulty of the sport.

These dudes aren't big and fast like football players.
Aren't giants with crazy athletic ability like basketball players.
Nothing looks difficult on TV like hitting a baseball.
Its just a blah television product that looks ordinary af.

I agree... this is ordinary, boring and unskillful as fukk

But if you truly understand the game you can see dominance. Kante had 0 goals vs Madrid and Man city in CL but he was dominating the game. It’s subtle it’s not like other sports were player drops 50 or qb throws 400 yards

He's not a fan, he doesn't realize how insanely hard this actually is
I understand how hard that is and it is impressive. Very impressive. But nothing like that happens frequently enough.
Yall can pull all the highlights you want the frequency of the plays yall pull tho aren't your plays that happen often.
Which is why America won't buy into it cause the majority of playtime in soccer stuff like this isn't happening hence why it LOOKS like anyone can do it.
That's all this thread was intended to say. Never said it took no skill, or these guys weren't skilled af. Never said that nfl or nba players could go pro or vice versa. They make something difficult look routine.

And cricket is the 2nd most popular...who cares. They aren’t as talented as the pro athletes in US sports

That's only because cricket is popular in a country with 1.5 billion people. Add in Pakistan and that's another 300 million. A few more countries and it's just about 2 billion but cricket is not popular outside of a few countries. Even Rugby is played in more countries than cricket is.
