Thing is...dude's track record doesn't lie.

After how 808s changed the game and how I have a feeling that Travis Scott/Yeezus sound is about to change the game again... he really might be on to something.

its hard to deny his influence at the end of the day.

Was 808 that the auto-tune album? How did that change the game?

Yeah
You're being to general. Can you be more specific. Who are these modern rappers whos style he fathered?

What has he influenced? This is not diss, I want to know who are these people and things that he is influencing. I need receipts.

Norfeast groovin…
He is a delusional egomaniac who has lost touch with reality. Remember when he tried to change his name to king Louie? I like his music minus yeezus but the person not the artist is a clown.

He works hard but he also overates himself. Nikka thinks he invented fashion but I he just another follower. He once tried to launch a line called pastelle which would have been a gay ass failure. The name alone is cliche corny gayness. Kanye needs people around him to keep him grounded. When u call yourself god and your disciples chirp back that u are him you loose control of reality and start making avant garde trash music which critics love because they love anything they don't get... Call it polarizing, brave and anything but good or listenable. Telling the audience you are challenging them is saying hey can u feel this even tho its pretentious trash with no soul...

and they say yes like the coli clowns who after 50 hard to sit thru listens can finally hear the genius in having someone produce and write your music so u can premier it world wide and rap about slaverly to materialism then floss the very next song :snoop:

Its about dualities brehs :bryan:

lol, pretty much how I feel on this. And I went through my Kanye listening phaze, after Graduation I snapped back to my senses and deleted all that basura. :mjpls:

The Opposite Of Elliott Wilson's Mohawk
Kanye fathered most of these modern rappers styles. If you're an old head you'll probably hate on his style of dress or baby momma or whatever other unrelated attack of character you can come up with.

The fact is, since coming in the game, he has been the most influential musical artist there is, and that's not really a question.
Looking at how weak the game is, I'm not sure that's a good thing.

That's like telling nikkas to pay homage to gang culture, because of all the lost souls in Chicago

That aint quality nikka. That aint praiseworthy.

True genius/greatness doesn't need to convince everyone else. It is what it is and people either appreciate it or they don't. This nikka Kanye's whole existence now is the "duality" of screaming "fukk fashion/white people/paparazzi" and then either going out of his way to gain acknowledgment of them, or doing absolutely nothing to challenge them. This is the kind of nikka to live in a glass house and cry about people watching him in the bathroom. Come on dog.

You're kidding me, right?

The most openly emotional rap album probably in the 2000s? Probably EVER?

Sonically, kanye just had introduced a new downtempo sound that tons of new artists took and embraced.

Drop those downtempo Kanye examples so I can youtube them.

So he drop the most emo album of the 2000's? How does making an emo album make him a genius and a visionary when other rappers like Common and Pac have been dropping emo albums since way before him? How is Kanyes emo album different?

Look man, you're making yourself look bad here. First off, you shouldn't be asking people to do the homework for you.. you haven't even listened to 808s but you're expecting people to explain shyt to you? :camby:

I haven't been living under a rock, I've heard plenty of the albums singles. None really stuck out so I don't remember any specific songs. Anyway, that's besides the point - I would expect people to back their assertions. You can't claim something change the game and not say how it changed the game. That's like saying God did it and offer no rationale. But then again, Yeesus is god. So we'll take his word for it.

I'm done here. Its been nearly 5 years since the album dropped and you're still clueless and trying to rewrite history.

sional pop rap that allowed rappers like drake, cudi, bob, wale, cole, etc. 808's is my least favorite album from him but it's his most influential. Before that more rappers took on the perspective of a narrator, framing morality tales about external circumstances. NOT AS MANY RAPPERS were willing to delve inward and talk about their emotion, pathos etc. This is not to say he was the first to do it but he undeniably popularized it on a mainstream level.

Musically you can see his influence even more. Half of these soul producers don exist without dropout. Electronic based pop rap which too over the latter part of the decade and which has now fallen out of favor was descended from graduation. 808's birthed the style of 40 which has been a huge influence on all of thae new guys.

I'm no the best at articulating these thoughs but every time yeezus drops something a load of people hop on and produce knockoff style. His influence goes beyon music he's transcended int fashion as well, whether you like it or not.

Hope I helped. Not my best

How can you be done when you never started? Everyone who posted about Kanye sucking offered a rationale of why he sucks (Read Ginathatain'tnoPuppy post). You made a general assertion, and offered no rationale to back your assertion. Thanks.

Go read the wiki review of 808s and heartbreaks. Theres like three paragraphs on the influence alone.
