And this...is why you are a muthafukka...I like the term Millennial because it gets people winded up
Shut up bytchI consider "real" Hip Hop as a historical fact. 1973 - 2003. I call it Classic Hip Hop
This new stuff isn't really the same genre (think Classic R n B vs Contemporary R n B)
So I call the new shyt Contemporary Rap (can't even refer to it as Hip Hop propper)
They don't though. Our parents were listening to the R and B shyt in the 90s that we heard as kids. They even watched 106 and Park kept up until about 50 Cent. Every prior generation hated on the younger generation to a degree but saw the talent in it and embraced it after a bit. James Brown to Mike and Prince, etc. But this shyt right now? These boys super average man.May of been the "downfall into shyt" era for youbrehs.
But for them, it was their formative years.
Older heads would say the same about the late 90s/early 00s
Even older heads would say the same about the early-mid 90s
So on and so forth. Such is life.

The only thing comparable right now to the past is adult television and that is because of the rise of HBO, Netflix, etc.

Its just a generational thing. Just like we thought some shyt was cool back then, they think the same about whatever they had.
They cant claim DCOM thoughAll of their shyt looks overproduced and cheap. Back when DCOM started most of their movies felt and looked like a real movie release.
Disney Channel today wouldnt even think about making movies that express culture or tackle social issues like Gotta Kick It Up! Tru Confessions, or The Color of Friendship.
