@XTechPulse
Texas officials blasted National Weather Service, a service they voted to defund for faulty forecasting in deadly flood disaster.

@FredPhlintstone

Put in proper drainage or stop people from building in flood zones . This is clearly the fault of the state / county
Don’t think that’ll ever happen bruh. People like living by water and shyt :yeshrug: I mean you can go to the outer banks right now and see neighborhoods of houses that are literally built on the beach. Beach sand is their grass and people stay losing their homes to the ocean out there. People live off rivers and lakes and decide to have docks to park their boats and shyt. Who don’t want to live like that? I think people would rather take the chance that some shyt like that MIGHT happen over acting like it’s inevitable and deciding not to go there at all. It’s why people will weather a storm vs evacuating like a normal person. They live on chance…

People need to start caring about their local news more and stop saying they won’t watch the news. I know people who will be 100% not prepared for weather and will say they didn’t watch any news or anything. shyt like that is how some people get stuck in these situations. People need to inform themselves. I feel so bad for them folks man.

@LakotaMan1
Why are Texas officials blasting the National Weather Service when Trump was the one who ordered the agency’s defunding?

2/31
@LakotaMan1
Texas is flooding and MAGA’s are looking for someone to blame.

Warning these people is becoming increasingly redundant and futile.

Because they are all spineless cowards.

7/31
@OhioHogWatch
They dont want you to know the real blame so they can offer the privatized version.

Accuweather is responsible for this.

8/31
@CodyAlanAllred
They have defunded nothing that would have made a difference yesterday. The cuts werent even codified in congress. There were non-stop warnings going out by the hour and days leading up to it. Weather radios were working. Weather apps were working. There were dozens of Live-streams that were giving out minute by minute warnings and information. Pretty much any weather app was giving out flash flood emergency warnings as it was happening. It’s so extremely in bad taste for you to disrespect everyone that was doing the best job they could in getting out the needed information to warn as many people as they could. Weather models can’t model and predict freak weather incidents like the one yesterday. Don’t post and pretend you know all about the weather that you don’t know how it works just to make things political.

9/31
@Cathy2NotToday
we are in for a whallop this year in Florida given they put that concentration camp on sacred Indian Everglades lands ….I’m sure that law they passed to ban “chemtrails” will appease the gods ( not)

It’s a disgrace on so many levels

10/31
@GrumpyGamer_73
Because they are big pussies who are afraid to call out Trump’s incompetence.

FINGER POINTING is normal human behavior, when someone DOES NOT WANT TO BE BLAMED.
And by the way, those "cuts" don't go into effect until OCTOBER OF 2025!

I'll add your comment to the rest.

What the fukk is going on? What’s going on is the predictable consequence of a political movement that’s spent decades waging war on public infrastructure, scientific literacy, and the very idea of collective responsibility—now caught with its pants down while the sky falls, and still somehow trying to blame the janitor.

Texas is underwater. People are dead. Families are wrecked. Your son’s friends are living through trauma they’ll carry for life. And the response from Texas officials? Not action. Not accountability. Not policy. But finger-pointing. At the National Weather Service.

Let’s talk about that.

The same NWS that’s been chronically underfunded, its forecasting tech and staff gutted—by the very GOP officials now grandstanding on camera pretending they’re shocked. Trump’s 2021 budget explicitly tried to slash NWS staff and programs. Republican lawmakers backed it. Rick Perry called climate change a hoax, and Greg Abbott’s emergency management record is a collage of avoidable disasters. These people aren’t just unprepared—they’re willfully negligent.

This is weaponized incompetence.

20/31
@KidWhimsical
Don’t the cuts actually start in 2026?

21/31
@Phil23310492
Funny how the red state of Texas is blasting the new Trump NWS, the funny thing is the trolls have jumped all over me suggesting the floods could not be prevented, completing missing the point that early weather warnings saves lives, imagine we haven’t reached tornado or hurricane season and Americans are all ready tragically dying .

22/31
@Jujubemad
Why are they even holding that presser. No new or critical info. Just a whole bunch of pats on the back.

Sorry, but Desantis does pressers right. Gives info, shelters, numbers to call for missing, donations.

And he doesn't need Sec Noem or 15 guys standing behind him.

23/31
@Manygoats_TX
Is it Trump’s job to give Weather reports?🤔

The flooding in Texas has taken lives,
Some of which likely could have been prevented.

This in not an “Incomprehensible Tragedy”….

These a$$holes cut funding to the National Weather Service which could have saved lives with early warning detection,

These a$$holes cut funding to FEMA which will result in additional lives lost due to lack of recovery efforts.

We can’t control the weather,

But how we prepare and respond is up to us,

Or up to the Republican Controlled Government….

@grok did funding cuts to NOAA affect Texas’s ability to provide information about storms that killed dozens of people in the last 48 hours?

@nateroe98
You are the worst !!!!!!!

6/11
@Matthewtravis08
I didn’t vote for this….

You did.

[Quoted tweet]
The outdated NWS alert system, which failed to ping phones before a deadly Texas flood, results from funding cuts and staff reductions under Trump's administrations—despite Noem's claim of upgrades. Biden restored some funds, but 2025 cuts have stalled improvements, per NOAA reports and analyses from Scientific American and NPR.

7/11
@KarenBe03640357
You filthy lying scum. How dare you say something like that? I can’t believe that you are in a relationship with a woman and have family. Your children must be embarrassed of you.

8/11
@Matthewtravis08

[Quoted tweet]
Yes, 2025 budget cuts to NOAA have caused staffing shortages, halted 24/7 operations in some forecast offices, and reduced weather data collection, impairing warning accuracy. Experts link this to the unanticipated severity of Texas floods, where forecasts underestimated rainfall, contributing to 27-32 deaths despite prior alerts.

@maddenifico
After Trump was warned for months that cuts to the National Weather Service would result in Americans dying needlessly, the incompetent psychopath did it anyway. 27 people are dead in Texas with dozens still missing. And for what? For tax cut for billionaires. 😡😡😡👇

Then he compounded the problem by gutting FEMA, while targeting it's catastrophic flooding preparedness standards for elimination.. all not even a month into his presidency.

Is Texas that bad with weather/disasters? :picard:

Spent like 2 weeks there between San Antonio, Austin and Dallas … Dallas police were harsh as fukk with me for having California plates. Literally threatened me so I began recording all police interactions after that, so in that sense … a valuable lesson

Anything south of Houston you have hurricane and flooding.

Dallas and North TX is hot and flat and they have hailstorms and tornados.

Central TX is flat and there is no infrastructure. Literally nothing but land and if it rains heavy it can flood.

West TX is so hot and dry that it has serious wildfire exposure
