Ask yourself this..
Which one has the Apple Music deal?
Which one doesn't need the traditional model of marketing and record sales to appease his core audience ?
Which one is allegedly projected to garner a BILLION streams with a project that hasn't been released yet?

It kinda reminds me of how warner bros went out of thier way to slander Prince (and no Drake will never be in the same air as Prince) when Prince was one of the pioneers of the digital movement.
media just riding whatever wave social media is on.

Point blank period .

so label execs want to cut drake off because he makes them alot of money?

107394.gif

1. We have no idea how much he actually makes the label
2. U have to remember cash money has one of the better deals in the industry.
3. A lot of execs dislike hip hop and it’s dominance. They have no problem making money off it, but def don’t want it to be the #1 grossing genre.

Edit:
4. Labels want and love to control the industry. They want to be gatekeepers. The surge of hip hop has killed that. It’s why a lot of pop acts are struggling.

Although they appreciate the revenue Drake brings in the Universal Brass has never been fond of him.....

Going back to when he took shots at former Motown/ Universal exec Sylvia Rhone on a mixtape and at a award show and was forced by the higher ups to apologize

Drake Apologizes To Head Of Motown For Slam

And in recent times screaming at Universal CEO Lucian Grainge on Twitter for taking his music off of various platforms .......

Not to mention Kanye and Grainge have always had a closeknit relationship beyond business

Lucian....Lyor....Kanye

I remember the whole Sylvia Rhone situation back in the So Far Gone days. Never really looked into Lucian though. *googles*

I noticed that too.

But why?

Arent both Pusha & Drake employees under universal?

Why would the execs side with the less profitable employee?
The only explanation is the bigger Pusha T/Good Music gets off of this the more money they'll make. Drake going sell 700k+ first week regardless.

Like Kanye vs 50. People clown 50 for losing but he still sold 700k first week. UMG wasn't clowning any side. They won overall.

so hip hop destroyed pop acts and is the reason record sales aint what they used to be, nothing to do with the internet.

Lol, I never said I agreed on the Pusha shyt abd I also said this was all just speculative. BUT to overthrow anything wouldn’t you want to go at the head. To kill a charge you have to silence the loudest voice...

Hip hop didn’t destroy Pop acts, now ur just putting words in my mouth. I’m strictly stating that hip hop is more dominant than its ever been. Drake is a big reason for that. With streaming, kids are controlling a lot of what’s happening on the hot 100. Labels can’t force a lot of these pop acts down the consumers throat like they used to.

Edit: the pusha aspect is not the thing. Pusha voice ain’t as big as drake and he’s not a person that can carry a culture. If he wanted to “take out drake”, if I’m a label head trying to stop the popularity of rap then I’d let and support pusha with no problem, lol

Him and Lucian really been at odds recently over that exclusive Apple deal Drake signed

Right after Drake closed that deal.
Lucian BANNED other Universal artists from signing exclusive deals

https://nypost.com/2016/08/24/universal-swears-off-exclusive-music-streaming-deals/

Oh shyt I remember that!! Bruh prolly got a hard on for Frank Ocean too for the stunt he pulled with Endless and Blond. I remember utterances of UMG wanting to hit that nikka with a lawsuit for dropping Blond (his real album) independently IMMEDIATELY after sticking Def Jam with a (basically) throwaway album.
