"The fanatical atheists...are like slaves who are still feeling the weight of their chains which they have thrown off after hard struggle. They are creatures who—in their grudge against the traditional 'opium of the people'—cannot bear the music of the spheres." such a belief seems to me preferable to the lack of any transcendental outlook."

God does not play dice with the universe.
- Albert Einstein

Every one who is seriously involved in the pursuit of science becomes convinced that a spirit is manifest in the laws of the Universe-a spirit vastly superior to that of man, and one in the face of which we with our modest powers must feel humble.
- Albert Einstein

He definitely was not an atheist.

The thing is, atheists are adamant about making people of book out to be some illogical, brainwashed dummies, however, they cannot provide a shred of evidence negating God's existence. So in reality, that makes them no "better" than us. People like Steven Hawking (who has my utmost respect) would rather believe in the theory of there being an infinite amount of universes, despite there not being any tangible evidence, than to believe in a God.

The image of God being portrayed as man-like, religious extremism, and distorted stories from religious texts that read like fairy tales, is what has pushed people away. IMO being an atheist is like throwing the baby out with the bath water. There's a lot of bullsh*t around religion, but that's only because humans are corrupt by nature.

he might not have been an atheist, but he damn sure had the common sense not to take the bible at face value :scusthov:

Science without religion is lame, religion without science is blind. - Albert Einstein

He was Jewish and even went to Catholic school. He was open to it and disliked being called an atheist.
