So you're aggy at him for not having a well calculated persona? :comeon:

She's still a wack ass c*nt with the same p4k fanbase :heh:

So, who cares? It's the internet era breh. Slang is universal. The music is what matters..

You can't pick and choose..... You bag him for taking some twitter slang and then you knock the shyt you think is original.... But then at least you agree he is original :youngsabo: I agree that there is a pretty pandering hipster element to his music and image at times but I don't see that as a wholly bad thing. If you're into shyt like Ye or whatever how are you gonna hold that against Danny Brown, for example? If you experiment with sound or image in any way people think of you as a hipster.. :manny:

I simply dig this album more than anything else out this year so far.

I'm not trying to knock Danny. You said it was said he wasn't going to blow when I think there are justifiable reasons. I still think he is one of the better rappers in this current rap landscape, but I also think he is a safe rapper for "real hip hop" heads and critics to gather around. Really good, not great rapping ability with really good, not great charisma.

I also think you have it wrong, I think Danny's persona is VERY well calculated. That's not a good think, though, unless you're Kanye.

Slang can be universal but we all know when someone is posturing and pandering with using it. I don't see Gucci Mane saying "fufu" or "gangway". I don't see E40 saying 'mud" or "bando". Chief Keef using Atlanta slang is a bit more honest than a Danny Brown or ASAP bite. Kanye can do it because he is larger than rap. He's a popstar at this point along with Jay Em and Wayne, and thus they can appropriate the lower elements of rap and expose that segment or specific region. Danny is a lower level rapper as far as fanbase so it's a bit more dishonest.

Who is Danny Brown? He just a Black Lil Ugly Mane. Some dude who listens to alot of rap, can rap his ass off, but isn't honest or true to himself

That was meant to be taking conceptually, not sonically. More so their approach to music and not the outcome.

I didn't say he sounded like Ugly Mane. I said they both are similar in that they obviously listen to alot of rap and are good at creating good rap but without the soul.

Seems to me like you're just overthinking it a lil bit. He just seems like a weird dude who likes to party and some drugs to me :pachaha:

If you say so. I think that's a pretty arbitrary distinction, and you're still talking about twitter from what i can see.... Not music.

:yeshrug: i think Danny pours a lot of soul and love into his music, especially on the more introspective tracks on The Hybrid and XXX (havent listened to this enough to comment). LUM on the other hand I will agree with you, he pretty much just makes that old memphis rap with updated production.

I gave you tracks: New World Order, All My Nikkaz, Lincoln Continental. all the Rocky features

I'm sure when I listen to this, appropriations will be abound

I don't think it's arbitrary distinction to say Kanye as a pop star has more privilege to appropriate than Danny Brown. He has an audience where as what net positive does any regional rapper get from Danny jacking their style?

Anyways, he is as far he is gonna get so it's really a pointless argument. I'll sit back and enjoy him as a solid listen while critics/ white nerds/ hip hop heads go crazy for their "under-appreciated" hip hop superstar :pachaha:

Did you listen to XXX or The Hybrid? I'm not saying he does not have his own thang but dude clearly bites adlibs and lingo. He also hops on the new wave of things ignorant rappers do. I mean this is a rapper who wants to be hard and all masculine but is signed to an Indie white label and is friends with Kitty Pryde. I place him in with Das Racist, smart dudes who can rap their asses off but just don't have "it". He's too aware as a rapper and doesn't have that inborn charisma.
:snoop:
Danny brown isn't a hipster rapper who
has a hard sound for "ironic" purposes.
Dude was really in that shyt.

And being signed to a indie "white" (wtf, does that
even mean ?) label doesn't change his life
or who he is.

He wants to be hard and masculine? So then why does he dress and arrange his image a certain way?

So what if he's friends with Kitty? Do you give Gucci mane the same shyt after doing work with V-Nasty (:scusthov:)?

As for the biting adlibs and lingo, i'm going to need evidence and examples.
For the last part, scrap or die is a clever play on a common
theme in trap music "Trap or die", and he takes Jeezy's Ad-libs for the song.
Which is of course intentional, I don't think he bites like Hopsin would, because
Danny clearly has his own sound and is hell bent on NOT imitating other people.
Which I think clearly went over this dudes head (the guy you and I quoted...)

Danny wasn't in shyt. Nobody I know in the D even fukk with him. His name rings no bells. He Detroit's ASAP. I'm suspicious of any rapper that don't even have clout in their own city.

No, those would be Jew labels ran by people who could give less fukks about rap on the sonic level as long as it sells.

Fools Gold and Mad Decent are ran by ironic hipsters who secretly laughing at yall nikkaz but I'm sleep.

I don't know what he meant with the "white" label comment.
I also meant to say that Danny has taken from other rappers
but it usually fits the theme of the track and it's intentional.

With that said he doesn't bite writing styles or production.
He makes a pretty big effort to distance himself.

So what is your issue here ? Is it with Danny brown ? OR is it with his label ?
I'm confused because personally I don't think the label he's signed too fukking matters
as long as dude is putting out dope music.

On top of that, I don't see why he'd make up a fake image.
He has stated himself that he didn't want to wear fitteds and baggy
clothes anymore so he switched his style up.
And no one has come out stating that he doesn't actually
do drugs, was never poor etc.
Your attempts to discredit him and equate him to the "College
Dorm trapper or Super thug with Straight A's" niche is transparent and pretty weak.

Alright I;m done arguing about mid tier rappers. Yall can have "Old"

I'll gladly take "Yeezus" "1017 Finally Home" "Acid Rap" "Honest" "NWTS" "Doris" "YRN" as AOTY

oh yeah, dude clearly says "hipster by heart" on "Lonely". Keep believing Danny image aint the utmost plastic..... Now he's talking about Molly, great. :deadmanny:
