9th Wonder is washed beyond belief. Alchemist is his way to being washed

Nas should collab with Madlib

People who think Madvillainy is the end all be all of Madlib's style is nothing more than a casual fan

Nas + Madlib would be the greatest rap album ever

Unofficial Madlib + Nas remixes

Unless Alc and 9th have something earth-shattering, it's best for Nas to stay the fukk away from both these dudes. Alc never made Nas's best work and he's had multiple tries. Time to leave that Alc shyt alone. 9th Wonder is past his prime (like Alc) but you never know... maybe he got a "Threat" in the stash.

Nas over Madlib would be interesting if it's something on the level of Madvillainy. Otherwise, Nas shouldn't even bother. Find a random new cat who's got heat like Clams Casino or Thelonius Martin or just work with the 'old guys' who did the classics.

do you like either of these beats?

I like Too Late considering it's a beat from 2002. I don't think I'd love it if it came out now. Thugz Mirror was always my least favorite joint between Alc and Nas.

this my favorite one. but one never knows has a better beat.

I have the exact same opinion. Let Em hang is one of the only beats where I knew the sample as soon as I heard it. I started martial arts in the late 90's and they usedto play this Japanese composer's music and the Let Em Hang sample was always playing. I wanna say the name was Kitaro. Alc also used Kitaro for

That was my favorite remix on God's Stepson. Made even better b/c of how bad the original was.

Daps/rep.

I agree with @JayBaldacci that it changes to mood of the song, but I don't think that's a bad thing. I dig the different vibe. A lot of the beats on God's Stepson changed the mood. Book of Rhymes is another one, and it almost changed the rhythm flow too. Not off beat, but differently changed the pocket of Nas' flow.

Nas has a shyt ear for beats but "Tick Tock" >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

That's one of da illest beats he ever spit on.

Yep. I thought it was weird when Havoc remade it almost exactly . :mindblown:

All these producers who think Nas owes them something can fukk off. Alc talking about "we got unfinished business". Naw, your a producer who makes beats, if Nas wants them then he'll hit you up.

Nas has ALWAYS been an artist who works off of feeling and inspiration, forcing himself to rap over anyone's beats "just because" would be disingenuous.

nah thelonious doesn't know how to make a fukking kick drum sit in the mix without overpowering and killing every single frequency above it.

9th wonder has fell off something serious. If he didn't get to make a beat for Nas 15 years ago it's not happening now. He can use them beats on wack ass Rapsody who he's trying to shove down everyone's throat.

I think a major reason (and maybe you don't care) why 9th has fallen off to some people is that he admits that he doesn't really change his formula. About 5 years ago he had E. Jones co-produce a lot of his beats and add keys and stuff, but he went back to just keeping it basic. A lot of people also say DJ Premier is stale also. Some producers work on changing their sound, and 9th or Preem for example don't do that as much.

9th had his first batches that people heard in 02/03. So he's not even been releasing bears 15 years yet, and I think he's done at least as many beats as Preem and more than Pete Rock and RZA, who have been around for an extra 10+ years than 9th. If you count the albums 9th produced fully, or at least 90%, by my count he's at 25-30. Then if you count albums where he did like 50% or more (Justus League and then Jamla releases) you can up that to like 40-50. Then another 5-10 beats tapes...then all the random songs he's produced here and there.

In his prime he was making 10+ beats every single day. He might be the most active producer since he came out. So when he says he doesn't really care to change his style, and he's also released as much as he has in such a short time (a little over a decade isn't long if you think about it) I'm sure some people are sick of his beats.

Daps/rep for the Nas/Madlib link. Also I think Nas would've sounded dope on a lot of those Piñata Madlib beats like these. I was gonna find some more from beat Konducta tapes but I'm sure you already know.

See my post above to @-YDB- on why I think you guys might think 9th is washed.

You gotta listen to how he said it though. The interviewer asked him who he'd like to work with the most, and he said in a lighthearted way that he'd like to link with Nas again. He hasn't chased a placement or submitted a beat tape in almost 5 years. The only way you're working with Alc is if you know him and ask, or if you're in CA and you drop by his house. He's not upset to not work with Nas. He's just said he'd love to work again with dudes like Nas or Snoop. But I guarantee he won't submit beats for Nas' next album. He's done with that part of his career.

9th Wonder is the same way. He's not expecting "the Nas call" as he calls it. He's just saying he'd like to do it. What are these guys not supposed to say they'd enjoy working with Nas when they get asked about it? That doesn't make sense to me. Of course Nas will work with who he wants to work with, and no one is suggesting that he should force himself to rap over someone's beats just because. That would be disingenuous, like you said. They don't want him to force it either. Alc would only wanna work with Nas if Nas wanted to work. The answer was predicated on that being a condition.
